still overheating....

still overheating....
first off im running a koyo radiator with a slim fan
ok so ever since i ran this motor it has been overheating. I have tried to get bubles out if any about 4 times, also i have changed the thermostat.
The problem i am having is that it will overheat after a while of city driving (20 minutes) especially at a steady state of 4k+ rpms it will overheat pretty quick. at idle it will stay nice and cool.
Yes the fan comes on and is spinning the right way. Thermostat is opening at 160F(jackson racing) i tested it with thermometer and water at 170F.
Could it be the radiator is corroded internally and not flowing as good as it should at 4k+ rpms? Whats the best way to clean it out? Gasoline?
Thanks. I need to get this fixed to i can get my car re-tuned!

Re: still overheating.... (mitsuman)
assumed ur boosted w/ no ac? if so, try a block off plate that fills up the space where your condensor used to be. also if the plastic at the bottom of your bumper is cut out, try putting something there. the air that should be going to your rad is flowing somewhere else.

i fabricated something like that and it is really heat soaking my intercooler and i feel a significant drop in power.
i also created a ram air duct to re-route cold air from the pass side fog light area. it helped, but still overheating.
also i have a KOYO radiator with a SLIM fan.

Re: still overheating.... (mitsuman)
have you tried pressure testing the system and the radiator cap? thats a tough one...i had an overheating problem where the thermo switch would still kick the fan on, but it was a stock civic radiator and it went away when i went to a beefier aftermarket half size. make sure your system is holding pressure.

ill have to double check that.
headgasket is fine. ran a test to see if there are gases coming out the radiator and it was negative.

yes that is hooked up. pressure checked the system. it is fine.
WTF could it be!!! so anoying.
timing seems to be a little advanced at wot but it seems to be ok at cruising speeds.
could it be a clogged radiator? i have bled the system for air at least 10 times. so i know all the air is out. could it be that the hot air going through the fmic is just too hot to cool the radiator? i just want to drive my car damit.

I had this same problem but mine wasn't due to anything wrong. I had the factory radiator.
You said you checked those hoses right? A friend had his backwards and his car would overheat all the time, no matter what. He went thru serious 4 thermostats before realizing his mistake.
Start simple man. There are only so many things that can cause it.
How big is your intercooler? We had little itty bitty ones.

Something had to be wrong with your radiator.
Either that or there was a airpocket in it somewhere.

i dont know. i cant imagine that the koyo radiator would be crap. maybe just clogged on the inside??
well, anyway. im happy i can finally drive it now!!

Re: (mitsuman)
good to hear, the only time i could see timing causing an issue, if there was too much pulled, alot of the heat energy would get transfered into the cylinder walls and into the coolant, instead of out though the exhaust gases.
