Stiffer engine mounts ????
Has anyone replaced their engine, tranny and rear torque mout with aftermarket pieces and got rid of the two front torque mounts??? I am wondering if this would improve the 60'. I know getting rid of the two front torque mounts would also help with clearance issues in the front for turbo.

Can't tell for sure, I added alot of other things that would affect 60' so I have no idea how much the poly mounts contributed to the improvement. I do get a good massage while driving though....buzzz

I dont think it would be a good idea to remove the front mounts...They're there for a reason...especially if you plan on making some good power....I have a solid rear and its nice...you get alot more feedback from the motor...
The thing is that if you have 3 solid mounts there might not be a need for the two torque mount in the front. In the case of stock mounts I could see the removal of the two front mounts as being a problem due to the rubber construction of the mounts. This could cause the engine to rotate too much and even hit the fire wall or the hood of the car. This is why I am trying to find if anyone has any experience with solid mounts and removal of the two torque mounts.
Thanks for your input.

the other three mounts may make up for the tourqe but those other two are there also for when you turn hard and the engine may try to shift side to side. I don't know about you, but some swaps put the crank pulley VERY near the frame so much that on some rex's you have to bang out the frame for clearances.
IF you didn't have these and turned hard, something is gonna probably break.
I only used Energy Suspension polyureathane inserts ($30) and they made a huge difference.
I would leave them on. They put them there for a reason.

Well you are incorrect. The two front mounts and the rear mount are all torque mounts. And just as their name sugests they are only there so that the engine does not move extensively forward or backwards under acceleration. My question is not weather somthing would break or not, but weather anyone had any experience with using just one solid rear mount to control the engine torque instead of all 3 torque mounts. You should take a closer look at the actual front mounts you can see that they have absolutely no support for laterral acceleration, meaning they are only design to restrict down or up motion.
Any experieces would be appriciated.

ahhaha, yap I delt with Jim quite a bit in the last few months - great guy if I may add. I ordered the rear one with race bushing from him yesterday. I am currently running all polyutharane engine mount (2) inserts in my car so the rear race one should be sufficient (I am guessing). I will remove the two front torque mounts to see what happens.
can running Hasport, Jim Fab and other full polyurathene mounts decrease your tranny life? I mean all that shock when power shifting? I just got my hasport ones put in. When i start the car my hands get a quick massage so does my foot buzzing down the freeway
