Default Steel braided lines

I know someone is going to probably flame me on this one...

I am assymbling my oil return lines and am having a bitch of a time getting the 'collar' side of the fitting to stay in place on the line (keeps sliding off) while I tighten down the 'blue barb' piece of the the fitting. I've tried oil to lubricate the barb into the hose...nothing seems to work out for me. Any suggestions???

Try wrapping some masking tape [like 1-2 wraps] around the steel braided line where it will be under the red fitting to create a tighter interference fit.

I hear you. By the time I was done assembling everything, I had like four holes in my thumb from the steel threads
