SRP pistons??
SRP's are softer pistons then regular JE's and Wisecos. If you're running just a tad bit to lean they will melt. You'll want to make sure youre all tuned up, then they should be fine.
they are only $100-$150 cheaper than the custom JE's... if I were spending that much already (building motor) I wouldnt scrimp on the pistons... I didnt scrimp in my car, and I am really glad! I have given it plenty of chances to break with thisngs hapening like fuel pumps failing under boost, but it held together! thank you JE and Benson's!
when I was making upmy mind I called JE and they told me the SRP's will only hold up to 14-15 psi... that was all I was planning on running anyway, but I wouldnt want to run on the ragged edge.. too expensive to fix a blown motor!

I would go for the JE pistons, but as a daily driven vehicle I dont' want to run into the noise of piston slap or the oil consumption. What other types of pistons are just as strong, but without the noise?

JE manufactures SRP so I can't see the big difference in quality, someone care to clarify. I know they are of a different alloy. For daily drivers SRP's should be fine. I mean if you are boosting more than 14psi your block better be sleeved, and the rest of your motor better be built to handle that extra boost.
14-15 psi should get ya in the low 12's. True if you are spending a lot of money I wouldn't try to cut corners especially on the pistons.

the differance between JE and SRP is the silicon content in the aluminum... srp's have a high silicon content which lets you run tighter clearances due to less thermal expansion, but it weakens the piston...
I have JE's and I have friends with JE's and I have never heard any piston slap at all, cold or otherwise... have a good machine shop do the work and you wont have any problems!

well...ARI has a piston/rod combo that they sell for like 850 bucks. IT's JE pistons with eagle rods....I thin kI'm gonna get that because their SRP/eagle combo is only like 25 bucks less...
I think the JE's with eagle rods will make a great combo. it's perfect if you're not sleeving your block. If you're looking for major horsepower though I might go with Crower rods simply because they are proven.
if someone gets me the grade of aluminum they use for each piston I will be able to tell you the difference in chemical composition and mechanical properties like tensile strength, yield point, elongation etc..as well as thermal expansion coefficient.
I have supplied special grades of aluminum billet to piston manufacturers for testing.
N.B. some of the best aluminum pistons can be found in the honda insight which is bulit around the lean burn principle, that motor is always on the verge of detonating.
