Default Spool of Sc61 /or GT3255e

I cant decide which turbo to purchase. my eg hatch will mostly be on the street once in a while at the track. its my daily driver. Im questioning the difference in spool time in rpms. i know the gt3255e will spool faster, i beleive has larger powerband. however, I have heard the sc61 is a tad laggier, but worth the few hundred rpm wait. If I knew at what rpms both turbos would be at full boost id be able to decide so easy. If you guys can help me out as to which would best be suited for me id really appreciate it thanks

my setup:
jdm b16
stock block
gsr cams
itr mani
450cc injectors
resistor box
euro r tb
jun flywheel
01 itr tranny
hondata stage2 boost rev limiter, datalogging
Custom equal length mani
hks ssq
jrc 8" front mount
custom 3" stainless dp with 3" electronic e-cutout

if you're a power freak then you should go with an sc61 if not the gt32 will give you a better powerband.

is it worth the wait in rpms for the sc61 over the gt3255e ? i dont wana smoke the tires all the time u know but i definatly dont want full boost at like 5k. id like full boost around 38-4200rpms. remember this is stock bottom end so i dont wana blow anything.

i still have a stock bottom end on 10psi and for me its worth the wait. And my redline is 7k and i think i have plenty of rpms, and if youre reving to 8k or more then thats even better.

jdmhonda- are you pretty happy with your sc61? im buying a new turbo for my ls and im stuck between the sc34 or sc61. I'll be running 15-16 psi and i still have the stock head so i wont be revving over 7k, will i have usable power band with the sc61 or i should be better with the sc34.

sorry if i hijack your thread hehe im too lazy to make a new topic

I would recommend the GT3251E for a stock bottom end B16a. It will spool instantly and make enough power to keep you happy

I'd rather have a quicker spooling turbo that I can use my boost controller to bring boost on smoothly instead of running a huge turbo just so I can "get out of the hole"

i was in the market for an sc61 with S housing, but i ended up going with the garrett t3/60-1. its a .63 A/R exhaust with .70A/R intake side. on stock b16 it made full boost (10psi) at 4200RPM. im hoping to make full boost on my built GSR block at around 4000RPM. concider the 60-1.

i ran a sc61 on my ls for about a month and i didnt think the lag was so bad because i had the smallest trim which was the sc6152. i made 240 at 8.7lbs but now im building it and trying to hit 350on pump and 400+ on race gas. i see boost around 4500 but i dont mind the small lag because i daily drive it but if you think about it i only need to spool if i am racing.

finally a good reply. lag is good you get a better gas milage and better traction out the whole not everybody wants full boost at 2 grand.

Gas mileage is a pretty crappy way to decide what turbo to buy. Heard of throttle modulation? Why don't you just swap in a geo metro motor and run a T74, that way you'll get some boost before redline, so that you get better traction and gas mileage.

Quicker spooling is always more fun.

I love to play around with my car dude. I dont like to drive it normal and hit boost only when i race. i DRIVE my car. daily driver hit vtec all the time im sure il hit boost all the time. i wana turbo to full spool around 3800-4k rpm. im not gona be at the track alot. this is more street daily driver. FUN car. my toy. i dont care about gas or anything else. im saying performance wise. not economy, plus w/e turbo im gona get comes with 1 yr 12k mile warentee so im not worried

its just matter of opinion. i get full spool at 4500-4700 and thats like when vtec starts. so when i downshift thats right in my powerband. even if i had a faster spooling turbo i'll still be in my power band but i like the larger turbo for more topend.
