Speedpro or AEM
I will be buing my EMS very soon. a friend of mine has a Speedpr ems he can sell me for a grand. I been looking into the aem and know a bit of what it can do, but I know nothing about speedpro. my motor is a built b16, goals are 450hp. sc61 yada, yada. so are there any benefits speedpro has over aem?

If you deciede to go AEM tell him i will buy the speedpro!</TD></TR></TABLE>
I will ask him, see I dont know anything about their systems.. but why would you want it? is it really good?
Edit- btw are you and Mike gonna race or what

Mike who? motor matrix? if he wants to bring it to the track next year when my car is ready hell yeah i will race him but not on the street.
Yes speed pro is great but you need someone that knows the program same thing with any kind of standalone differant things work for differant people ya know? do a little more research and see what you think that you would feel comfordable with and if it is the AEM hook me up with that speed pro system

I don't know what your going to be doing with the car but from what Jason has told me getting the car to idle good and run good at part throttle is a challange with speedpro if you want a more conservitave tune with better street charictoristics (sp?) i would go with a little easier to tune system IE: hondata or if you want a true stand alone the AEM

yes Mike motormatrix, I been keeping up with you yall's little spat. lol anyway. I am leaning towards AEM because I have been reaearching it forever and dont feel like dedicating more time into learning about speedpro. I know lot of the big guys use it. (mike too lol) but I dont know if its worth tit for a street application plus my hp goals arent that high. Hondata is not even an option for me. far too many limitations compared to AEM from what I have found out. but I do want to know what benfits speedpro gives you.

I didn't think i had a spat with mike i think he talks **** yes, but my car isn't even ready yet and won't be for a few months i can't and won't talk **** till it is finished.
I would say hondata would probably be a good choice for you good driveability for the street
People saying speed pro have you gotten your car to run really good on the street? i ask this because i have heard from Jason it is a total pain in the *** to get the car to idle decent. For someone that drives their car as much as this guy probably will i don't think speed pro would be a wise choice for him

I have to disagree Ronnie, The Speedpro is an awesome system and is more than capble of being streetable and idles fine, it may take alittle more time but it is well worth it. I would love to SWAP my Hondata Stage 2 with boost and datalogging for the Speedpro. But I won't lie and say the Hondata is better, I think I would have more options with the Speedpro due to the 5 bar map sensor upgrade from Precision Engineering. Speedpro is awesome and also Jason Hunt has tuned an AEM EMS on a Turbo Prelude and DAMN the #s wee impressive. He will have to elaborate on the system and whether he likes it or not.

I know the AEM is still working out the bugs. They have had problems in the past, supposidly they were fixed, but there are still problems with them. If you can get speedpro for that price, get that. I can't get technical how the systems compare, maybe Jason will get up on here.

I wasn't lying about anything this was a opinion based on what i have been told by jason and what have resurched about speed pro. I mean not everyone has the money to have their car extensivly tuned ya know? i know i didn't i tuned mine my self with no dyno, ran like **** around town but ran its *** off at WOT. The AEM also comes with a 5 bar map, and you a preset basemap so you just plug in and go speed pro you do have to wire in if i am not mistaken. I was just saying that in some Apps it would be overkill and not needed i don't know the extent of this guys setup i was just throwing more options out there and might be more cost effitive in the long run. Because we all know that hondata is proven and great for the street with minmal work and tuning. Another reason speed pro or aem would be an advantage is the fact it is a true stand alone and you don't have to burn a chip everytime you want to change something.
With all of this in mind if you don't choose speed pro let us know
the guy wanted our opinions and i was giving them to him
ps: that prelude does put done some sick *** power

I am still leaning towrds AEM, they have a lifetiem warranty on the unit. if it does they replace it, thier forum has ppl willing to help. its hard to beat all that. but lemme do reasearch a bit more beofre I decide what Im getting
to get the part throttle working good on a speed pro isn't hard at all. getting it to idle is hit and miss if you don't have the gm air idle control motor hooked up. otherwise, it idles fine.
ok people. I wanna know what features speedpro Offers. AEM has all kinds of fancy smancy things like programable Nitrous control, boost cut, boost control,2 step, anti-lag, datalogging, real time knock adjustment etc etc etc. what does speedpro have?
Bank to Bank
STANDARD FEATURES:
Idle Air Control
Fan and fuel pump control
1-stage nitrous oxide control
Knock retard with programable parameters
BANK-TO-BANK PROGRAMMING OPTIONS:
Wide Band O2 Sensor option (for closed loop WOT)
Programable for a wide selection of ignition types
ALL SYSTEMS INCLUDE THESE ITEMS:
ECU
Main wiring harness with all connectors labeled
Injector wiring harness
5-foot Communication cable (ECU to laptop)
C-Com™ software 3-½" floppy and software manual
ALL SYSTEMS INCLUDE THESE FEATURES:
True speed/density algorithm provides higher resulotion for "big" injectors and better idle control. ECU is shock resistant and incorporates a waterproof case and connectors.
ECU circuitry is hardened to prevent high-energy ignition interference.
Easy to install with step-by-step instructions.
C-Com™ PC software features 32-bit capability for a complete memory map of system calibrations.
Sequential

why dont you go to http://www.fuelairspark.com and check em out.
It has ignition control, load sense via MAP and TPS, target A/F map, individual cylinder firing adjustments, datalogging, no individual cylinder retarding, can support virtually any injector, can be used with single dizzy/dual dizzy/waste spark/coil on plug, nitrous triggering, blah blah blah. There's probably more features, like I heard they can compensate for changes in temp (hope I'm not spreading a rumor).

i'm running speedpro and my car idles like a champ with no IAC, 85 lb. injectors and a/c!
it's very user friendly and anyone with a little knowledge of cars can get it running in a few hours. Andy (SEFIxCivic) has helped me and got me started on a few occasional times.

When it comes to Engine management I like to use the term KISS
Keep It Simple Stupid!!
The more "fancy features" a computer may have, means there are more point of possible failures.
