Default Sorry but...

I have to ask this question. I'm extremely new to the boosting thing and I was wondering about my boost gauge. It doesn't have a vaccuum reading on it and I took the car out the other day to see if it (the boost gauge) was working properly. I took it to about 5500 rpm's and the boost gauge didn't move. I have it hooked into the intake manifold. It said that that was a suitable place to hook it up on the instructions but it's not working. I was wondering if anyone knew of a better place to hook it in without tapping into my charge pipe. Thanks and sorry for the dumb question.

Wait, you do have a turbo car right?

Otherwise, check for leaks or cracks in the vacuum line. It also could have gotten pinched when running it to the cabin area. And lastly, where on the intake manifold did you tap it?

Yes, it's a turbo car, lol. The intake manifold isn't stock. It's a victor x intake manifold. I hooked it up to one of the pre drilled holes that are already on the intake manifold for various accessories. The other pre drilled holes are plugged with pipe plugs. I checked all of the line from the hole all the way through the cabin and into the back of the gauge and none of it is kinked. The holes that I am referring to are located on the back of the intake manifold.

it's an autometer sport compact II and the only need for power source is for the LED light to see at night. Otherwise it is just a gauge that is reading from forced air.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "the nipple", but if it's a little collet that goes over the line then yes, it's open.

I have no boost leaks that I know of and no I didn't do a WOT to 5500 but I didn't granny is there either. I did, however, hear it blow off so I knew it was at least boosting a little bit.

Get infront of a mirror and and blow into the nipple on the back of the gauge. You should blow hard enough to create some pressure. If it goes up then you have a good gauge if not then the gauge is the problem.

Now to be sure... you are running this hose from the back of the intake manifold and on the nipple on the back off the gauge right?

Yeah, it's a mechanical gauge. I appreciate the help and I am going to try these methods. Thanks again for all the help.
