If I remember correctly, the belt for the SOHC kit needs to be 44". Take the old belt to a parts shop and have it measured.

I remember rmcdaniels saying something about how the alternator bracket in the early JRSC kits were a little off and newer kits including shims to fix it. You might want to look into shimming it out so that it lines up better and doesn't rub the timing cover.

Mine only rubbed slightly until the belt notched into the plastic and self-clearanced itself. Problem solved. If it rubs more than a little, you probably need to tighten the belt more anyway.

Also, you can buy the belts direct from Jackson Racing online. That's where I used to buy mine and they had super fast shipping too. Usually took 2-3 days to get my stuff (in SoCal).

Damn, that's bad. Are you sure you installed the JR lower alt. bracket?

^^ I don't know what you just said...

But anyway, this is a simple problem to resolve. Step 1 is to put a new belt on, and see if everything is in alignment.
