SOHC headlifting issues - need help!
alright i drive a 94 civic lx so its got the d15b7 engine and i boosted it so a while ago my timing belt snapped cause im an idiot and didn't change it. anyways i bent some valves so i got another head but the head i got was off of the d16y7 when i finally got it together and running we went out to tune it and on the first run i got some headlift, well were pretty sure i got some headlift cause my overflow was full and my car had started overheating a little. anyways i know i need arp headstuds i just didn't have the money at the time and thought the stock bolts would hold for a while yeah they didn't. my question is what headstuds should i get? the y7/y8 ones or the b7/z6 ones? When i bolted the head back on i had to use the b7 ones all around except for (this is weird) in the hole that is the 3rd in the loosening sequence shown in the book (its the one by the fourth cylinder furthest from you). so yeah im really lost, if anybody could give me some insight on this it would be hella tight. thanx
D-series, you order head studs for the block you use. I'm ASSuming B7 is the same as A6.
You did not lift your head, lifting a head on a D-series is pretty hard. What happens that everyone thinks of as head lifting is detonation issues that shifted your cylinders from the Y7 head. The Y7/Y8 heads run completely different timing from the earlier engines, due to the different port/chamber design.
