Default Soft Rev Limiter - MSD?

I was looking to "fix" the rev limiter, so it's not a fuel cut off, but an ignition cut off, or something like the Soft Rev Limiter the MSD Ignition Provides?

In auto-x, I don't like bumping off the rev limiter, I know it cannot be good with the JRSC.

Options? Please advise me.

I've used the MSD soft touch box. It's very nice. You can buy the Soft Touch box seperate of the MSD if you wish to avoid the headaches and pit falls of a MSD6AL. It's 99 bucks from Jegs. Works great!

soft limiter is pretty much the Sheezy, I'm not a fan of cutting fuel at redline on full boost.

That is the unit indeed. Make sure you buy pills also, because the ones that come with it are about as useful as **** on a tire. I recommend MSD pills, far more reliable than any others I've tried.

VaporTrail, what's wrong with the 6AL? You guys can use a variable resistor instead of buying pills. If I remember correctly, you'll need a 1K ohm linear taper potentiometer or varistor. You can use the supplied 3000 rpm limiter for a staging limiter and the varistor for rev-limiter using a simple push-button switch.......

Pills?
Pills are the plug in modules that decide the rev limiter. Example - you want your rev limit to be 8500rpm, then you would put in the pill that reads 8500 rpm.

But the ECU rev limit is 8100, so if I put it to something higher than that, the ECU would have already tried to cut fuel off... so the 8000 one included is most likely ok.

You got it now. The best combo would be a removed rev limiter, using the soft touch box to limit the revs alone.

if I"m not mistaken when they "remove" a rev limiter on honda ECU they actually just put it way out to like 15000 RPM so you'll never hit it.

you'd have to have the ECU chipped.

I really don't think having the rev limit (soft limiter) at 7900 is all that bad. Sure the hp on the dyno won't be as high, but it will be safe. The NA guys would hate it, because those cars are fast, because they stay in lower gears longer, but with FI, that's really not an issue, and I'd rather run it safer.

And that's what I thought, I'd have to fix it at the ECU.
