so what really makes you " fast "
i was thinking about boosting my tsx in the near future but i don't want to just slap any turbo on it and call it a day. i want to know what else comes in to play, for example my P to W ratio... when does it become to high. is there ever a point when too high of a p2w ratio becomes a bad thing and when is that?...also i started doing research on gear ratios and the website went off to talk about tire sizes and how that becomes a form of a gear as well. if some1 can help me out here in figuring out all this stuff i would really appreciate it.

So you're wanting to know, how fast is TOO fast?? LOL There isn't such a thing. But you need to research about what all it takes to build up a motor to become fast. It's never as easy as just slapping on a turbo. So set a power goal and research what it will take to get there and you'll be good.

You must not have any experience with these cars. Call a performance shop and spend more time researching. Most all turbo Hondas have traction issues regardless of weight. My car has 490whp. At this level I have bad traction issues in 3rd gear, even past 80mph. Many race cars add weight to the front of their cars to help. Transmission modifications can be expensive and most of the time are unnecessary (depending on the use of the car). The way to go fast is put the power to the ground. Spinnin ain't winnin lol. Get the best tires available. Bigger helps. Run 235/60-15s

I think he wants to know what to focus on when building a car for speed. If your just streeting then I wouldn't bother gutting the car, as for the rest IE.. what turbo, intercooler, valve train then I would just read all the info on here that you can from people who have alot of exp under them like Jeff Evans from www.evans-tuning.com <--he's just one of hundreds of people on here that have years of good exp building, tuning and racing. Check out his dyno section and tech articles. Theres a lot of good info and you'll see patterns of builds that are successful.

traction, suspension, braking. you need all 3 if you're actually after a car that's fast in more than a straight line. if you stiffen the car up you'll loose ride quality but gain transition speed and stability. braking is just a given and traction is mainly with the tires you run. for a hot street setup you would:
pick up a sticky street tire like the kumho xs, yoke ad08, star spec etc...
then get a good street pad like the axxis ultimate, carbotech ax6 or hawk hp+
add in a nice coilover set like the koni/gc combo or amr with neutral rates
what you would do is gradually increase the boost until the car starts overpowering your combo.

What really makes you fast is a good driver. Imagine you have two identical cars with the exact same features with no differences at all, a perfect clone if you will. The better driver is going to be faster, simple as that.
This is the reason you see low budget Hondas crapping on supercars in Autocross. :D
Some people like to use the saying that "There's nothing wrong other than a loose nut behind the wheel."

i have a set goal as to how much power i would like to make. I'm thinking like 350-400 sounds good enough for me. in my opinion more power = more problems. then again any added amount of power will some day give you an issue i guess. what about weight? if you think about it ALL sports cars are RWD is this because FWD isn't meant to have to much power? i agree with E85B18 100% "spinnin aint winnin"
