Smoking ???
Ok, i bought my new car 3 weeks ago... its a gsr motor/ drag genIII kit.. vtec wasnt hooked up, its not tuned, running fmu stock p28 etc.... the kid says he never went over like 4k rpm, car didnt smoke when i checked it out besides normal little smoke like running little rich when driving... i babied the car driving it home then to a friends house.. i let the car cool and turn off, come back outside bout 5min later to move the car, let it sit there and all the sudden i see all this smoke comin out the exhaust... i call him and hes like "i dont know never did that before.." i drove the car home and stopped smokin as bad, just more normal now... the next day i check the oil and it was more than quart and half low... wtf.. so i fill it up... i hardly drive the car bc i been working so much no time to do anything yet.. throught the 3 weeks the car would smoke everyday usualy like that for some reason, and its only really on idle.. the idle is perfect, but that smoke, and it smells like oil. now if i almost hit boost or hit it for a second, hear like a choppy sound. some people tell me its normal, others say detonation?? anyway i dont want to get the car tuned if i have a bad turbo seal, so any ideas on what is wrong i really appreciate it thanks

get it to a shop, or a tuner and have them check it out, do a compression check and run some good fuel management, atleast get uberdata or something, btw any more pics of the car,
i will be getting it tuned as soon as my injectors come in.. but not much they can do if its a bad turbo seal or something.. i need to fix it first.. any sugg. on what it may be?
pull the charge pipe off right where it comes out of the turbo and check for oil, next take off the d/p and check there, that will tell you whats up with the turbo , then pull the turbo manifold off the head and see if there is any oil in the exhaust ports, if so then pull the plugs and do a leak down test , if the plugs look ok and leak down is good then i would say valve seals,

check for smoke out of your pcv on your valve cover. good sign of bad rings. And make sure you're not leaking oil around the head gasket. hope that helps.

did you do the test right? Meaning was the car at normal operating temp and at WOT?
Its good they are all the same put isnt 170 a drop low for a GSR, I would have thought 200-220. I get 200-215 on my B16 with 9:1 C/R

i took out one plug at a time and screwd in the gauge... then cranked the motor few times went to about 170-175 each one...
motor:
b18c1
3 angle valve job p/p
srp 9.2-1 pistons
eagle H beam rods
JE rings

youre also suppose to have the throttle wide open while cranking.

yup needs to be warm. 200-220 sounds good...

did you check for oil in your downpipe?
to do a compression check :
have warmed up engine
remove all spark plugs
remove ecu fuse from panel in engine bay
WOT crank 5-7 times or untill it doesnt raise compression anymore
if your compression is low in one or more cylinders, add a half cap of oil into the cylinder(s) and redo compression check on that cylinder, if it raises up higher then before then you know its your rings, if not its your valves

I have turbo on my car and lot of my friend do too...we all have this problem once in a while. Main things to check is to see if you oil return line is a free flow to oil pan. add a oil restrictor to the oil feed line , you turbo is getting to much oil, it only needs a little bit..hope it helps
