Smoke out of catch can.
Motor is a d16z6 running @ 11lbs. I run a catch can with one hose from the valve cover to the can and 1 hose from the back of the black box to the can as well. Sound o'k so far? Good. Now I had one of my turbo coolant lines go on me so I changed it as well as the oil return line and now I have smoke coming from the catch can. I also changed the coolant and noticed a little bit of oil drops in the coolant whan I was bleeding the system. The car was sitting for a month or so if that makes a difference. Anyhow heres a small vid.
I plan on doing a compression test tommorow to see if its my ringlands taking a **** on me.

ok did you hook the lines back up correctly?
When i had smoke coming out at idle like that, my ringlands were bad. Usually you should see smoke under load. My vehicle does not smoke at idle.

I don't have a breather on my catch can and you can see the oil vapors at stop lights and what not. It looks like smoke but its ok, I have 180psi across the board.

What motor. I have a Z6.

could be a little condensation from sitting or oil vapor... when i cracked a ring landing in cyl 3 on my old setup cause it overboosted i had alot more smoke out of the catch can than that on idle and on a rev. it was alot more noticeable than that little bit from the video clip. although am i seeing things or was your coolant bubbling pretty hard when you rev'd it... that is something a blown headgasket will do.
leakdown would tell you for sure if it is something serious.

I change the headgasket last year and added arp headstuds so I doubt its the head gasket or at least I hope not. The coolant looked good when I changed it as well.

why would you doubt it just because you changed it last year? that doesn't mean anything.
leak down. The bubbling while revving doesn't look good at all. now it can rise or bubble out air bubbles and that neither one

well it just spoted some bubbling from the coolant which unless you where burping the system is generally something that says you have air being pushed into the cooling system.
as i was saying though, the little bit of vapor does not look like anything serious... alot of car have a bit of oil vapor or if been sitting for a while... a little condensation from moisture accumulated in a catchcan.
when i did blow a headgasket and cracked a ringlanding on a heavy boost spike, i was pushing ALOT more steam out the vc breather than whats in your video... it was like a small cloud of it on a rev.

in my z6, when first assembled after rebuild cyl 4 rings didn't seal and it smoked like ti wuz on fire at idle, u could see it comin out the hood sittin in the driver seat. Like everyone said that looks normal. as for the coolant, if its alread been blead, I would say ur head gasket is f'd

I was not saying his were... rather the opposite... i said there was ALOT more vapor when mine were unlike his. agian i will say it, its probably a little oil or condensation vapor. that little bit of vapor does not look like anything serious.

Well the compression is fine and she goes like stink so I'm not worried anymore. As for the bubbling coolant I was bleeding the rad at that time.

Re: (Mr.Death)
When we had my new engine on the dyno it looked like the fog was coming out of my catch can under load, but it wasn't smoking out the exhaust or burning any oil. You are probably fine.
