Re: side mount intercooler shots? (SOHC_MShue)
not the greatest pic, and not an ek, but u get the idea
EDIT: this is the only pic i have on my computer and no. it doesnt touch the tire nor does it ever come in contact while turning. the angle just looks weird there.

nice . Is that a dsm intercooler? How did you rig it up and do you think it gets a good amount of air flowing to it?
anyone else got some pics?

yup dsm 1g on my sol. once u have the smic and ur sittin there lookin at it and lookin at ur car, u'll figure out how to put it. just gotta be creative and willin to get ur hands a lil dirty. i think they should flow fine since i've seen some dsm pushin some pretty high boost and still running side mounts. that EF is prob gettin even more air in there than me

shouldn't you put a heavy gauge wire mesh on the intercooler to protect it from large rocks or debris from damaging the intercooler fins?
nice setup and looks very efficient.

I was able to put the lining back in the wheel well after I installed the IC but had to trim it a bit. I then drilled some holes in the lining so the air would flow through the IC, "I think the wheel causes a suction effect to pulling air out."

ok im ganna be running a turbo coupe intercooler the same place u guys are running your dsm intercoolers. im putting it on a 92 sedan. only thing is their is no air duct like on the other cars. will this be a problem? also can i just use dryer duct to channel the air through the intercooler? or amd i ganna need to make a hole in the bumper. thanks

Re: side mount intercooler shots? (boostincoupe)
uh oh I see someone is finally boosted
I wish I had a pic of what I did but I went to home depot and got some plastic black mesh pet screen and cut a square in the splashguard and ziptied it in. Can't even tell there's a cutout there for an ic unless you look really close.
