Should I boost it or not????
Ok, as the title says, i'm trying to decide if i should boost my d16z6. It's a pretty much stock z6 with about 140,000 on the motor. I have absolutely EVERYTHING for putting my turbo kit on...but i've run into a problem......i am in college, will be finished soon, as in dec., but am worried about running 5 lbs of boost now till i graduate. I havent put it on......but the itch is getting GREATER, and GREATER every day. BTW, this is my daily driver. I would be able to get the turbo on and tuned with uberdata in the same weekend(hopefully).....do you guys think i'll be safe with 5 lbs, now till december....???? and one more thing.........how long do d's usually last on something like 5 lbs with a good tune? especially one with this kinda mileage....ive seen alot higher milage.......but jsut asking..

I've got over 200k on a z6 with 8lbs on a 14b
ARP headstuds are the only addition
If you get a good tune and the motor has good compression then I wouldn't even worry about 8lbs

Only 140k? Are you nuts? That motor is hardly broken in.
230k pushing 15psi semi-tuned for almost a year.
Just make sure you tune it, or you'll have shot rings in your #1 cylinder.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Well if it's a case of limited funds then you shouldn't even think about putting a turbo. You might put it on and it could last a long time or the first time you go in to boost you could blow it. You really need to do it right and be ready for the worst.
