Shorter geared trans+forced induction.
I am in the process of having a hybrid transmission built and shipped out to me. I really want to go forced induction. I was talking to the builder and he said my gears are too short for turbo (i only gain 8 MPH in 4th) . I was thinking maybe S/C then. You guys think thats a good idea?
It all depends. I have a forced induction integra with a SIR trans in it.
Driving properly I can stay out of boost very easily and it's nice to punch it and boost comes on quick and the speed is fantastic.
I've lost top end speed though. I can almost make 200kph but I run out of gear by then.
I wouldn't worry about a short geared trans. You'll enjoy the fast responce and can still drive fine.

what do you mean you only gain 8mph in 4th. as in rev out 3rd, hit 4th, go up 8mph and have to shift into 5th? is that a typo, or do you really only gain 8mph in 4th?
Thats correct... redline third, hit fourth, gain 8 mph and I am at 7200 again. Here is a graph of my hybrid trans compared to my Y5 trans: http://www.fatboyraceworks.com...are=1 Green is stock, red is hybrid. Once I can post in the classifieds I am going to look for a Jackson S/C kit.
WOW just WOW, IS this going to be solely for a track car? Because those kind of gear retios are for a NA motor that his a high rev limit like 10,000-12,000 rpm. and has a high peakey power curve.
i will agree, those are some pretty close ratios, but bearable. i think if you are going to go focred induction you should get some VERY sticky tires, maybe even go with a bigger tire.
