SDS engine management
I came across a standalone engine management system based in Calgary recently and I was looking through the site to get an idea of what they offer. Heres a link for anyone that might be interested/bored, or would like offer some opinions of whether or not it sounds like a good setup. http://www.sdsefi.com
Theres some good info and tech articles here that ive been sifting through as well. Take a look and post some opinions!

I actually have an SDS system sitting right here in my room. It's an EM3-e that I will be using on my Corolla. The reason I got it was because I played with it a little bit on my friends sand rail and it seems to be doing a great job. It was very easy to tune, I learned in about 5 minutes. Also I like the fact that it has such high resolution. I got a good deal on it and I think it's going to work out perfect. Plus I dont need to carry a laptop around to program it.
I talked to a guy from SDS and they said that the ecu will get rid of the speedoand other stuff, like lights(for us daily drivers). I still need the speedometer for driving around....can I run the SDS in link with the stock ECU??? Or is there a way to allow the SDS to run all those functions?
I think I might sell my Haltech and buy this, just for ease of tuning....

Well on my corolla, the speedo is a cable like on older hondas. However, even on newer Hondas I dont think the speed sensor runs through the computer to get to the speedometer. The reason I say this is because in my friends CRX we just installed a gauge cluster from a 1995 integra with lots of rewiring. Anyway, we had to install a 95 integra speed sensor into the tranny and wire it up to the speedometer, it was totally independent of the ecu. Either way, who says you have to disconnect and remove your stock ecu to run an aftermarket computer, just leave it all hooked up but dont use it to run any of the engines main functions like fuel and timing.
I have SDS in my 73 turbo beetle and its super easy to tune and their customer support is great. I have a cable speedo cable so that wasn't an issue, but I can tell you it works great...I should be in the 11's this spring with it.
i know several peeps running SDS on their turbo civic/tegs running mid 12's/low 13's.
they love it and its really user friendly too.
