Default sc63 questions...

Just wondering if anyone knew how this turbo would be on a Built 9:1 compression 2.8L VR6 engine, My brother is building his Corrado and just looking for other turbo options out there than the normal t04e's other vr6 turbo's run...

actually the SC61 will make more power with less boost and spool quicker.

I suppose if you want to run 35-40psi with an SC63 it would be bad ***.. but its just not worth the effort or the money. The SC61 just blows it away.

nothing changes the fact that the compressor of the SC61 is way more efficient..

The SC63 would probably hit full boost around 5500 on your VR6. the SC61 will probably hit full boost around 3800.. And it will make more power at less boost. but if you want to be "different" spend the extra 300 for the 63 and be frustrated waiting for the power.

Sorry to bring this one back, but I have a freind shopping for a new turbo for his VR6. I have heard a lot about the SC-61, but don't know too much about it. I was hoping you guys could break it down for me.

My friend is running a T04E 60-1 hi-fi (.58) and he'd like to keep the spoolup as low as possible. His 60-1 is fully spooled at ~3000 rpm.

When you guys recommend the SC-61, are you talking about the T3 wheel or the T04 wheel?

Also, what's the bolt pattern like for the DP? Or is it V-band??

How about the inlet/outlet size?

if ur friend is using a .58ar right now that means he has a strait T4. What hes going to need to get is the PT61. SC turbo's are T3/T4's... The SC's are available in 4bolt and 5bolt housing, non-vband. The T4 housings are v-band. You can get the PT61 in .58ar T4 vband and .68ar T4 vband turbine housings. The compressor housing that it comes w/ is an E housing .60ar and it has a 2" outlet and 3" inlet. You can upgrade to the S housing though, which is 2.5" outlet and 4" inlet w/ velocity stack. Most people use the T350 turbine wheel w/ the SC/PT61's.

Thanks for the response. Lot's of good info.

Anyone have any ideas as to when my friend might see full boost on a 2.8 VR6 w/3" turbo back with the PT-61?

Actually the pt61 is not the true name for it chris. The PT61 is 3 bolt turbo from precision for the buicks it mislabeled in there catalog but not a really big deal.
