sc6152e too small for built motor??

Default sc6152e too small for built motor??

I am putting a 400-450whp turbo gsr together, its 81.5 stock sleeve 9:1 gsr w. top mount and all goodies... i was thinking sc6152e (630whp rated) will be preffect for the set up, but from reading on this forums for few months, seens like almost every 400+whp bseries here run PT or GT series turbo. I wonder if i could still run that little sc6152 for now then up grade later. or will this turbo get me to 450whp range??

youll be happy with it. Im running it on my car and the spool is really good, it has a very nice broad powerband and will be plenty for 450whp.

sc61523 on a 81 mm ls vtec made 530 on 21 psi and 110 makes 500s all day

a buddy of mine dyno'ed 450 on 9 pounds with a drag mani and a sc61 turbo should you should have know problem

Not without a massive correction factor he didn't. Most I've ever seen ACTUAL out of a 9psi SC61 was a car tony1 tuned a good 2.5 years ago with (IIRC) an 84mm 10:1 GSR motor, full-race tubular manifold, and all that good stuff. It made 372 @ 9 psi. 450 actual WHP on a drag mani at 9 psi just isn't happening.

im using that same turbo and made 600hp 420ft lbs at 28.5psi.im on a b16a at 84.5mm bore stock stroke.

sweet! sounds good, I am running the same turbo plans 11 psi low boost and 20 high boost on the dsbc

With the drag manifold i'm sure it spiked to 20lbs.

what kind of spool times are you guy's seeing?

Hm...............
Thats a good question about spool times. I'm going with this turbo in my setup for the Prelude.....can't wait. Someone told me boosting 12psi - I won't get full spool until ~4500 which is fine for me.

I give the sc61 a big thumbs up . It only runs about $600 compared to $1100-1200. You'll be able to make 450 Whp all day with a nice powerband .

i wish i could go back, at first i was planning to do a cheap stock motor + turbo and hit 350whp and call it a day.... End up, semi-built the motor and went w. a crazy topmount set up. so it was too late to go back.//

for comparisons sake, my buddy jordan has a sc6152e on his built b18c in his teg gsr and i have a gt35r on my built b16a in my gsr.

i see boost before he does, and the gt35r pulls much harder when it spools.

despite the displacement disadvantage, the bigger turbo spooled faster on the smaller motor. thats worth an extra few hundred to me

Unless you buy a used SC61 or someone whoring out old stock, you won't find one for $600

Yeah the prices went up about 6 months ago, I think the were like 660 and went to 780 althought ive been seening them in the 860 range some places lately.
