Default SC61 with .48 turbine?

Anyone using one of these? I love what the SC61 is doing for you honda guys and am contemplating putting one on my turbo neon. I am only worried about spool time since my rev limiter is 7200. Anyone have experience with the .48 SC61? If I had 15 psi by low 4k rpm I'd be happy.

BTW. It's a 2.0L DOHC with 8.6:1 compression. Neon engines are known for making good torque as it is. MY last dyno was 275whp and 280 wtq with mitsu 16G turbo.

I've talked to Art. It sounds very promising. I just want to see if anyone else on these forums has a .48 SC61. Really, I'd love to see a dyno sheet with one so I can see when the power hits.

It wouldn't be a very good combination w/ the SC61 compressor side. the .63 really doesn't spool that slow. on a 1.8 honda it does 15psi about 4500-5000 depending on the set up.

Anyone else have opinions. Art seems to think it would work well. I don't need 500whp (not enough fuel to feed that much power) but I do want room to grow. The car will be a street car, but not daily driven.

Double121: I would love to but the car is currently down. I smoked the piston rings last season so I'm building a whole new turbo kit and engine this winter. I'll see you guys at the track next season.

Hey mopar junkie,

Have you ported the exhaust side of your head? I was looking at a neon head the other day and I can't believe the port design they had on that thing!! It's probably why the motor makes descent torque, but if you open those up A LOT you'd see HUGE gains.

if you go with the .48 rear you cannot use the p trim .76 rear wheel. you have to use the .69 trim which doesnt make as much power. Put a 50 shot to spool it up and cut it off at 10psi or so if you are worried about lag.

scott:
I have a really good ported head with crane cams. Flow should not be a problem.

Matrix:
What kind of power difference are we talking about? I see a lot of honda's puttind down 500+whp. I'm not looking for that kind of power at this time since i'll be using a RRFPR and 42# injectors. There's only so much I can fuel the beast. Nirous is definately an option, but I would like decent performaance without the spray.

My goals are high 10's without a bottle in a 2200lb car. Len Ayala (another neon freak) is at 11.20@128 with a 20G turbo and no juice. I need a turbo that can make similar power with room to grow. I'm still trying to decide between a T3/T04E 60 trim and the SC61.

Thanks

if u want 10's on a T3 u need at least a .63AR. the .48 is just not gonna support much power, its gonna struggle over 350. SC61 .60ar compressor w/ .63ar exhaust is going to be the quickest spooling turbo that can get u in the 10's and if u need it to spool faster get it ball bearing or buy its big brother the Garret GT35R.

Thanks for your help. I guess 15 psi @ 5k isn't that bad. I'll just downshift when I need boost.
