Default Built GSR with 50 trim turbo/360whp 330ft lbs@12psi: Is this possible?

I'm looking at getting a civic with a built GSR and 50 trim turbo. The guy is claiming it made 360hp and 330ft lbs at 12 PSI, but doesn't have the dyno sheet to prove it. I'm not a pro at these engines, but I do know that's a high torque number for these engines.

I know that there's a ton of unknown variables as far as build, dyno, fuel, tuning, etc., but I'd like to know if these numbers are at least in the realm of possibility for the few specs I do know. He claims its a daily driver, but I just want to know if it's something I should look into, or if he's lying. Any info you can provide would be helpful.

Have him meet you at a dyno of your choice, pay for the dyno run and determine approximate power, buy car if you want it and the claimed power level isn't an outright lie.

Just remember that different dynos will produce different numbers, and even the same dyno on different days / weather, but check to make certain it is at least close.

"50 trim turbo" doesn't tell much. Find the exact turbo, and check the forced induction forum for others people using that turbo and what their results were.

Yeah I know there's a lot of grey area there. His ad didn't have too many details. Thanks for the help.

330 Pounds of Torque? No Dyno Sheet? I'm calling bs.

A 50 Trim sounds like an Ebay Turbo, and doesn't sound like a large number, which makes 360 WHP on 12 Pounds a stretch, but very well possible with a good tune. 330 Pounds of Torque, I really don't see that, however, maybe he has put in a larger crank for the Torque.

Also, most people keep there dyno sheet as a pride and joy of what they built, and if they don't have it, its because they were disappointed with the number so if he tells you it makes 500 WHP, would you know the difference?

there is NO way he is making those torque numbers

yeah a 50 trim can handle the power but the number juts dont match up
ask what the tubo specs are and his whole setup

I placed a copy of this thread in the Forced Induction section to see whether you get additional feedback there.

im running a garrett t3/t4 57 trim 63 AR, and making 270whp 180wtq. Now this is on a stock b16, but my point is for his torque to be that high is kinda fishy

Ok, so it's not just my lack of knowledge. I'm glad it's not adding up for your guys either. Thanks for the help!

there is no way he is making that power on a .50 trim at only 12psi, and absolutely no way he's making that amount of torque. I'd make sure the car is even tuned at all.

I'd do some checking first. That's definetely a stretch for a .50 trim turbo. And no dyno sheet hahaha funny how people make claims but don't have any proof. I've seen it time and time again in my area

I'm going to say it's definetely possible if the engine is built depending on the type of pistons used and if it's stroked or not. And depending on the turbo.

To clear up the perspective using my car as an example...I have a d16y8 with vitara pistons and stock length eagle rods which puts my C:R at a pitiful 7.8:1 in the y8's. I'm using a .57 trim ebay turbo (soon to be upgraded) and I dynoed my car at Rhodeheaver's Hotrod Shop in Uniontown, PA... I made 254whp and 210tq at 19.3psi according to their boost logger on a Mustang Dyno.....and that's with the retarded low compression ratio of my engine....So it's definetely possible to make torque that is closely matched with the power numbers especially with a b18.

Just research it first

Ive played with the Ebay turbos once upon a time. A 50 trim @ 13 psi on a b18/b16 with 9.5:1 JE's, stock bore, and gsr crank; I made 316whp and 261ftlb on a dynojet.... Basically I think he doesn't really know what its making and hes just throwing around numbers. No way in hell is it making 330lb of Tq if its making only 300hp. Generally, every lightly modified B-serries ive come across makes roughly sixty to a hundred less then the number you see for the HP. Hes full of poo man, and I wouldn't buy anything from a dude that started out blowing smoke up my @$$.......

To his credit, he's claiming 360hp on a "fully built gsr". Now, no idea what his definition of fully built is, but 360hp and 330ft lbs is more believable than 300/330, although it's still a giant stretch.
