??? rust spray for turbo manifold ???
hey guys, i was wondering what kinda of rust spray is best to get off the rust on the drag manifolds? i just hate the rust color.. anyone???
shouldnt really rust, unless your car is parked outside and condensation get on the manifold.. only thing that causes rust.. 1200 degree paint doesn't hold to well, it usually peels off for me.. neirther does power coating.. that just turns white.. i'm sure they sell some sort of paint that should hold
I cant think of the name right now, but if you go to an autobody paint supplier, (regular home improvment stores have it in my area) and ask them for something to prep rusty metal for painting. The name Jasco pops into my head...but ya, good luck.

I was in the same boat.
Got tired of the ugly rust look even after several attempts of painting it with High temp paint. The paint looks good for a few weeks then it stated rusting again.
Contacted Jet-Hot and they coated my Rev-Hard mani for $130 with the Jet-Hot 2000 black.
Looks very nice.
Oh yeah make sure you do your port and polish before you send it out.

Here are some pics my manifold after I got it back from Jet-Hot with the 2000 black coat.
Very nice, but those people do a horrible job of packing when they sent it back to me. Sending complaint to them cause they messed up one of the manifold but mine came back with no problem thank goodness.

Go to a parts store,
buy a can of "copper spray gasket"
shake it up, tape off the area not to be coated..
give one or two coats on the manifold..
Drive the car hard for one day.
Enjoy the nice CAST IRON GRAY COLOR it turns.
no need to clean either, just spray it on, and the heat will change the color, and protect the manifold from further rusting..

someone on here suggested they were only successful with this brand, all the other sprays out there rusted or chipped off.

yhea, that's it, use the buffer dude !! with no brushes wire, what a great way to **** up a great manifold !! get ahead and put a zip cut on it while your on his case !!! seriously copper spray worked for me and my friend, you must leave the manifold in place and tape the surrounding arrea cause if you touch it, even a day after painting it, you'll leave some finger print on it, and here come the rust again !!!
drive it a bit, the heat will kind of cook the coper spray, and it will turn a nice grayish metal color, pretty much one of the cheapest and effective way to do it, if you ask me !
