RPM inrease with Crane cam and stock springs?
I have a turbo cam from Crane. It says on their site it increases power up to 7500 rpm. They just recommend new stock valve springs. My redline on my D16A6 is like 6500. Should I trust them? That quite an increase. Can a cam increase redline that much?
With stock valve springs I wouldn't go over the 7200 rpm stock fuel cut. I'd look for some crower springs or Zex Springs... then be all rev happy...
The fuel cut is at 9K. I set it at that so that's not a problem. I looked into springs from crower, but they don't have my app. Unless D16Z6 springs work, no body has my application.
I just want to know if its ok to rev that high, and if a cam has the abilty to safely raise an engine's redline.

The cam will allow for the airflow, not the activity. If the cam has an agressive grind, the it is forcing the springs to work harder than stock, which will put them through a harder workout... you will NEED some upgraded valve springs to go over 7500 repeatedly safely. I wonder if Zex/Comp Cams makes any for the d16a... I'm not sure if the z and the a use the same springs...
get the specs on your springs and look at the max lift of your cam, I am sure you will find another spring from another engine that meets your specs. just keep installed height and set pressure in mind.
