Default Romulator connector help???

anyone know if i can replace this peice??? a while back i broke off one of the pins on it and now it wont even work w/ my ecu. i clip it in and upload the map to the romulator but when i turn the key on the interface box is still blinking. im guessing its not getting the connection from that one pin that doesnt completely go in the socket.

i was just wondering if maybe i can get another peice and just cut this part off...i figure its jsut like the ribbons on desktops and im sure theres someway to just replace it...let me know ASAP needing to get this thing tuned before this weekend

please if anyone has done this let me know where i can find one

When u flick the key on, flick it off and on again. It usually takes me 2 flips to get it to connect. Paul

if you can't find a new connector all together you may be able to get a socket for the same type of chip and push the pins out of it. then take the connector apart that is on your burner and push the broken pin(s) out and replace them. I seem to remeber the pins just being pressed in the sockets.

hey are you sure the outter socket isnt broken? mine came w/ an extra socket on the end of it, if yours is the same, all you gotta do is be very careful when taking the socket off, and replace it.

The 28pin connector on the end of those are made up of two pices, so as to make it easy to replace when you break pins. Look closely and you'll see that you can pry the machine socket away from the rest of connector w/o disturbing the ribbon cable.

well i dont thik u can actually use a socket to replace this peice cause somehow u have to get it to connect to the ribbon...i tried to just pull out that one pin and replace it w/ another on but some how i cant get it loose w/o tearing up the ribbon itself...

mine doesnt have an extra socket...i put another socket on there to see if i can get better connection but still doesnt work...i even put a multimeter to it where the end of the ribbon where its cut and wire is kinda accessible and tried to test continuity from the broken pin and that wire and it reads continuity...but i dont konw if its to just 1 wire on the ribbon or 2

Why dont you try callings XTRONICS (the manufacturer) and see if they will sell you just the piece that connects to the ribbon or ask where you might buy one on your own.

If you've ever opened up the romulator, you'll see the other side is just a foppy-drive cable. Xtronics has to have replacments.
