rod,piston,ring upgrade for boost???
Ok guys I am near having my turbo kit complete. I may have some extra money to spend and I ws wondering how beneficial would it be to upgrade my pistons, rings, rods for more reliable boost. I dotn have the $$ to do a full bottom end build so it would basically be all stock sizes from a b16. What (if any) setup would you recommend. I am not looking for crazy HP ut I want more reliable. I know the b16 can push 300+ all day on stock internals but if I upgraded what would I be looking at HP wise. I wont have any head work done either so is it even worth it? Thanks

Forged Pistons and rods is definately worth it, they can handle alot more abuse than stock and will handle more power and a sloppy tune or bad tank of gas if that happens. Wiseco Pistons for $475 and Eagle rods for $325 is a good deal to ensure you are safe and not down if you blow something up on stock stuff.
Comes down to your tuner, you won't necessarily make more power with aftermarket BUT have the potential too with more boost and more aggressive tuning than a stock motor can handle

Re: rod, piston, ring upgrade for boost??? (Boostfed.com)
the main thing is reliability and the ability to turn the boost up and not worrying about frying my rings, I have a prety good tuner in mind and will tune on crome. My car is not a daily driver but I need reliablity when boosted

it is ALWAYS worth it to build the bottom end....it greatly increases your potential to make power....with the stock bottom end, you're basically limited to 350whp or less, but with the built bottom end, people are pushing near 600whp on stock sleeves....

350whp sucks sooo much on a street car. and not nearly enough. yeah build 600hp.. no build 750whp for your street car

Re: (Boostage)
well I am really considering it. Wiseco pistons with eagle rods. Can I install those without pulling the whole motor and would I need to get my block honed. It only has 66k on it

Re: (mikeycivic)
You will have to pull the motor to build the bottom end. You will need to rehone the cylinder walls and to be safe polish the crank. You will also need new bearings. You might also want to get the deck checked for flatness to ensure a good mating of the head and to keep your headgasket from blowing out. You will also want to install ARP headstuds or a similiar aftermarket brand to keep the head from lifting.

Meh....i'm at 306 and its a good amount of power to have on the street...i already need to run my Drag Radials all the time if i want traction.....i think that 600whp would be way overkill...my goal is a good 400whp but i want quick spool...
