Ringlands -- All four broken (Pics)
I finally was able to get around to disassembling my old short block to confirm what I had initially thought happened. The ring lands pretty much broke in the same exact spot on all 4 pistons. Lesson here is don't get carried away with your boost controller.
Notice the clean spot right under the top ring. The transition from clean to dirty is where the crack starts and ends.
The walls in each cylinder are scuffed up pretty good.

LOL..that's a good question. The boost controller read 9.x but from what we saw on the dyno there's about a 1.5psi difference between actual and displayed psi. I'd say the boost spike was somewhere in the neighborhood of 11 psi. Another thing i learned: get a mechanical boost gauge. Do not trust the reading your boost controller displays. In my case it was a Blitz SBC-iD and it was nowhere close to actual boost.

You can say that again.

At that time I was running the Greddy Blue Box with the stock ECU. Yeah I know...I probably deserved it.

the greddy blue box takes another victim, don't feel bad, I was in your shoes last year. Get Benson sleeves and build her up again with Hondata and boost away

That's exactly where I'm at right now. Block built by Earl and sleeved by Benson's. Now I'm just fighting the AEM EMS demons.
I remember reading about your experience with the Blue Box. How's your new motor running?

Anywhere from 7.8 psi to whatever boost spiked to. I'm guessing it spiked upwards of 11psi when the ringlands crapped out. I was TRYING to boost 9 psi when that happened.

Back up and running already but not to the point of where I would like it to be. I was running with the broken ringlands for almost 10 months. I finally got sick of adding oil every other week and decided to swap it out.
I'm having little quirky issues with the AEM. Idles funny, misfires in top end, and the most annoying issue of all is stalling and warm starts. I'll give it about a month to work out these issues then I'm going with Hondata.

PCV setup is/was stock. Once I get the EMS issues taken care of I will be bypassing the PCV into my catch can.
