Default Review of uberteg's boost chip on a ls/t

Setup-

95 del sol, Stock B18B, 60-1 hifi, dsm 450 injectors, the chip, 2.5 dp, and 2.25 inch exhaust.

I installed the 450cc injectors, resistors, then popped in the chip. This was before i installed the turbo. Car started and idled perfect, ran even stronger than before. No hesitation or jerkiness. I was very impressed

Next, the turbo went on...after dealing with some oil feed line leaking problems, i took it out for a spin around the block, running open downpipe.. Boost started to build around 3500 rpm...was at full boost (5 psi) by 4100 rpm. The acceleration was incredible, my friend who was helping me with the install was like It feels like a roller coaster... Everyone who I take for a ride is like " oh my god" when the boost hits Its gonna be even crazier when i get a decent exhaust...I swear i lost 40 whp after i connected my exhaust after running with an open downpipe.

According to my a/f gauge, its rich during boost up until about 6700 rpm then it starts to lean out just a bit. No detonation whatsoever. Uberteg can burn your chip to whatever specs you want, and after you go to the dyno, you can mail the chip back and get it reburned with the perfect air fuel ratio and ignition timing, free of charge

I feel that this is without a doubt the best engine management system for the price as of now. No jerkiness or hesitation at all, runs beautifully, cheap...i dont really see a downfall to the chip

overall-

highly recommended

Sounds perfect for the person who just puts on a turbo and goes.
What about when it comes time to get a boost controller? I guess just a really rich map all over to compensate for the occasion high boost usage.

Good luck with it!

The chip has fuel curves for ALL possible boost ranges with the stock map sensor. So he can run what ever boost he wants and it will be rich

I'm glad you're happy! Good luck with your setup

Actually it's good for those people, but with Uber's assistance I'll be on the dyno looking to make 300 or so WHP with one soon.

Selling Hondata because of it. It's not for everyone, but it damn sure is for me.

I think you could use this chip on anything from a mild N/A car to an all out race car. I don't ever plan on having the fastest car around, but I like having a fast car. Even more than that, I like playing with stuff like this. Very cool stuff right here!

The stock honda map sensor can only read to about 11psi of boost, so that is probably it for the Uber chip unless it can be reprogrammed for a different voltage imput.

It can be programmed for 3bar map sensors For now I prefer 2bar tho

I assume you have an autometer type gauge? If so, and you are actually reading RED at any point during boost, that means your running a ratio > 14.7 which WILL melt your internals if you do it enough.

I'm not trying to cause a rucuss or knock uberteg's chip, I'm just looking out for you. For the crappy non-wideband a/f gauges red means EXTREMELY lean for a daily driven turbo teg (in boost only), you should be seeing nothing but lots of green and even then no promises your not at like 13.0 - 14.6 which still is bad for a turbo honda in the boost range.

Again uberteg don't take offense just wanna get the facts straight, nothing more.

None taken. I warn everyone who buys it to at least buy an a/f guage, and its not my place to tune it. The base tune was made on a 14b, his car may be making enuf extra power up top to lean out a tad over the 14b due to its betetr efficiency.

The resolution of the GM 2 bar is not that much different than the stock Honda MAP, but the GM 2 bar isn't physically limited to the max boost it can sense like the Honda unit.

Uberteg is being a sissy about the GM 3 bar. The stock Honda maps, which he utilizes, are comparable to a DFI, while the Honda ECU's output far outstrips the DFI. Electromotive, which uses the same method of interpolation for injector/ignition control, has maps about 40% the size of the stock Honda. The variance in offset on the GM 3 bar could cause some people to run a little too rich/lean if you try to run the car untuned, so a direct trip to the dyno or closest wideband O2 unit is required.

And I'm surprised people are acting surprised that it works so well... I've maintained for quite some time now that Uberteg is as intelligent as he is a ******* obnoxious *****. I'm not being totally tongue in cheek either...

i will be using it soon and tuning my fuel curve with my afc @ the dyno. I'm wondering how much is it to get a 2Bar map sensor and where can i get one?? I think I will crave more power after i find out how well this works.

~$50 at the GM dealership. $42 if you like Advanced Auto/Autozone/Pep Boys stuff.

... does this require a resistor/potentiometer to be wired to the map sensor like filetofit's setup (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=373528)... ???

... can you chip a p28 with a p72 program?... would there be any lost functionality?... like secondary butterflies, knock, etc...

P72 code on a P28 would CEL due to lack of IAB citcuitry the P72 code calls for.

Uberego's code is P75 derived, which is 99% P72 code. I think he mentioned having IAB support for it.

There is no IAB cel joseph. The only CEL you would throw would be knock sensor, and I removed that. My p28 chips are just p72's with disabled knock
