Default replica GT35r on ebay?

i read the FAQ on ebay turbos. It seemed to be a lot of two different opinions going back and forth. I was wanted to know if anyone has one of these knock off GT35R's.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...27195

there seems to be a good bit of these adds with the same turbo. does anybody have any experience with these. I know it won't be the quality of Garrett but if people have had success with them I wouldnt mine trying one out. THanks in advance guys.

If the "GT35R" part is what's swaying you, i can personally guarantee you that it wont perform in any way remotely close to a real GT35r. If anything the turbo looks like a 60-1 or variant of it. I'm not saying its going to be a total POS, but i'm leaning that direction...i'm not exactly an eBay parts fan

Neither am I, but I am willing to try it out if some people have had success with it. I'm in the process of figuring out everthing I am going to get to upgrade my current "weak" turbo.

What's your current turbo? Also, what's the setup and the power goal you're aiming for??

If you're putting that much money into your setup, there's no reason to skimp on a shitty eBay turbo. I would look into the Borg Warner S362 or S366. They'll easily make your goal and shouldn't break the bank...

I meant to say that for the simple fact that this discussion of that cheap stuff just keeps getting bigger and bigger. unfortunately, the more its discussed, the more tempted some emo cheap poor bastard will be tempted to buy one, simply because the price is "so unreal."

@Shodan

Its not about being cheap. Its about IF you can get close to the same quality then why not. If this turbo were to perform well you surely can't knock peopel for buying it. Unfortunately that doesnt seem to be the case.

yes it is,
if you actually believe you can get anywhere near the same quality for 1/5 the price, you are exactly who these companies are targeting.

a fool and his money...

respectfully understood. But there is always the occasion of "blowback" in which I get several calls a week on rebuilding something that was not built w/ the appropriate quality to start off. It's like trying to make a castle in the sand. It'll hold for a while, but you're constantly trying to make sure it doesn't get destroyed by rebuilding and rebuilding and rebuilding......
