Replace oil pump or not?
I am having my block re-sleeved and there is about 55,000 on it. While I have the engine out of the car is it necessary to replace the oil and water pump? There will not be a lot of boost imidiately, but soon enough there will be. Should I just do it while the motor is out?

you dont have to, but its easier to do while the motor is out, i rebuilt mine at like 40k or so and reaplcedmine,. .its only an additional $200 or so and is worth it.,

I agree. One less thing to worry about.

Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and change it. So the next question is...Is the factory replacement best like most other things? And I just need the gear right?

Replace it!! And use an OEM from your local dealership. I think its funny when people think that the OEM pump will shatter at high rpm. It will, but what people fail to realize is why it shatters at high RPM's. Virbrations are your engines worst enemy! Always use a stock pump and make sure everything in your enigne is balanced and have a good harmonic dampaner too.

arturbo:::so I guess you are not a fan of unorthodox racing crank pullies...I just put one on to give it a try..I heard from some people that since the honda crankshafts are internally balanced to 0, a lightweight pulley will not matter.....
