what are you trying to say... you want the pistons off the rods? Just get a small flathead and take the clips off both sides of the pistons.... then pound the wrist pin out....shouldn't be that hard since they are aftermarket.

Cut that bitch. Might take a very long time - but who cares. Or, just fork out the $20 and pay someone to do it for you.

they can be a bitch to get off, but the only way to get the wrist pins out is to take off those clips.

Why are you trying to get the wrist pin out? Just undo the rod bolts, take the pistons out and install the newones... Your new pistons should have came with everything needed to install them.

I wouldnt recommend you doing this yourself. It's not hard, but if you dont even know how to pull them out, I'm affraid that you wont know how to gap the rings, and install the pistons back in the block properly.

I think he already has the pistons and rods out of the block. He was asking how to get the pistons off of the rods.

ok, this might sound dumb but, is it $20 to put the pistons onto the rods, or to install into the engine?

mike93boost, let us know how everything turns out, i might be in the same situation soon

they arent welded

I used one of those dentist picks. If you can get just one little bit started you can get them out.

They also are not just circle rings that get pushed in there. They sould looke exactly like a key ring. You have to find the beginning of the ring and work from there. just like putting keys on the ring.

Whether or not you care if these pistons get damaged you won't want your new pistons damaged so you might as well drop the current rods and pistons off at a machine shop along with the new pistons and just have them swap the pistons for you. It wouldn't take them long with the help of a shop press and so it shouldn't cost much at all ....

If your removing srp pistons from eagle rods, then all you do is remove the spiral lock tab and slide out the wristpin..

u need to use a pick of some sort to pry out the spiral lock. there should also be a little tab in the side of the piston that gives u a small amount of access to get behind the lock to begin to pry it

if the pistons are trashed and deformed and you cant get the clip out you can take a cutoff wheel till you cut into the clip on one side and weaken it and then it will fall right out...

or take a sharp chisel and a hammer and hit the clip and break it

they are floating pins....you slide the pin in and just install the clips on each side with a small flathead ...make sure the tab on the rod faces the exhaust side and keep in mind the intake valve reliefs are the bigger ones ont he tops of the pistons

cool. so i wont need a machine shop to press the CP's in? why is everyone else yelling out machine shop?

btw, got the srp's off. i just cut the clips.

i know about the valve reliefs but what tab are you talking about on the rod?
