Hello Honda-tech!

New member here looking for some boost! I've been wanting a turbo now for quite some time, but haven't really gotten too into it yet. My car is a daily driver, and I don't want anything too powerful, just enough to have a little fun with.

I drive a 1996 civic with a D16y7. Nothing much added to it, just an intake and exhaust. No headers, everything else pretty much stock.

Any takers on what's good? Thanks for your time!

 

I don't want to come across like most of the internet snobs on this site, but you clearly have no idea what goes into even a mild turbo build.

I would recommend that you read about 100 different threads on this site and "how-to's" on here before you even start asking questions. I am only saying this b//c you won't understand what we are telling you until you have some familiarity with the various engine components, tuning, upgrades, fuel systems, etc until you've learned a little bit more.

You need to understand everything from the intake system (turbo, what size charge pipes, what size intercooler, what blow-off valve, what size throttle body, what intake manifold), to the motor (do I need upgraded Rods/pistons/bearings/valve train/camshafts for my build?), to the fuel system (will my injectors have enough duty to meet my power requirements? Do I need upgraded fuel pump(s)? Fuel Rail??), then to the exhaust system.

Then there are things like tuning software, oil restrictors for turbos, in some cases you may need injector relays if you run RC peak and hold injectors (or similar), running aftermarket coolant lines, oil lines, gauges, etc.

There is way more than meets the eye.
