Default OT: Might be getting a turbo II rx7...

I have been looking into buying an rx7 for ages now. The 3rd gens are such a beatiful car, but they are very costly. I like to start car building projects with little to no money into the cars so i can put the money into upgrades. Case in point, I had 1500.00 into my hatchback before i started. I now have around 13,000-14,000 total including a build engine, custom turbo kit, etc.

I am basically getting the turbo II for next to nothing, with a running jdm engine and rebuilt turbo II transmission. It has exhaust, intake and some light suspension mods. I have been reading up on rotaries for the last few months, and finally feel confident that i understand enough about them to tackle a project with one. The car will be my daily driver for the time being, and then be put aside to get the works done. Anyone have any experiences with the turbo II generation of rx7's?

I miss a rwd car. I loved that sliding when the power is applied around a turn feeling that only rwd's can offer. I am going to be doing upgraded radiator, oil cooler and possibly a haltech e6k system to get rid of the cranky stock fuel management that they come with.

In some ways i like them better than the 3rd gens. No one sweats the 2nd gen body style at all. Its a semi-sleeper imo. Gotta love the aluminum suspension on them...

Those cars are sweet! And the motors are so simple it's rediculous......
Don't blow out the apex seals, immediately replace all vacuum hoses with nice silicon ones, and you'll be fine
We're gonna be tuning a 3rd gen on an AEM really soon with a pinapple racing stage 3 motor, I can't wait to see what kind of power we can make

The only reason why I don't like rotaries that much is because of the amount of fuel they consume. I had 2 friends with FD3Ss, and they both sold them because of the amount of gas they went through in a day (they drove normally without boost, and it still drank it all down like it was water)

Your gas prices are pretty crazy in europe. I couldnt imagine what i would cost to own one! I am prepared for the added expense of the rotary. Hopefully if i keep things simple i wont be blowing the seals.
