Reliability of a turbo'd Honda?
I'm looking into buying a Honda, and I've seen some that are in my price range. What I'm really wondering is what the reliability of them can be? For example, I'm looking at this car http://dallas.craigslist.org/d....html, and I'm wondering how reliable that car would be. I would indeed give it a rock solid tune, but with it needing to be a daily driver, would it really be enough to depend on everyday?

I've had mine on 11psi for over a year now running on a motor I built myself (my first and only engine build) 2 years ago. Running untuned on a basemap I've tweaked slightly going strong. Now, I don't suggest doing this, but I've had luck so far. I just don't see the sense in tuning for 11psi when I know I'll be upping the boost when I get out of college and start making decent money so I can buy necessities like a clutch, lsd, bigger turbo etc.

Now are you guys daily driving these, or just on the weekends? Also, for the guys that say they are daily driving these, how much boost are you running?

The general rule of thumb is that if you use good parts, get a good tune and don't ask too much of the engine, you'll be fine. For example, i ran my stock block GSR at 315whp for 2 years and over 18k miles without issue.

2 two years and counting, half a year on at 168 whp and the rest at 255-240 whp
setup in sig
BUT, i don't drive it everyday, about 3-4 times a week. The TSX is the daily.
But when I do drive it, its ***** to the wall every chance I get lol

I drive mine every day to class, work, wherever. 11psi with engine bay WG dump on a 14b, so I crack her open a lot. I've built mine out of shitty parts (except the actual motor build itself), run untuned, and I've been very fortunate I suppose. 27mpg city, 30-35mpg highway depending on time of year.

Fully built with GT35R turbo here. three years a little over 3000 miles, not daily driven but never had an issue with it. I change the oil every 1000 miles, i check everything before I start it up, I let it warm up before driving, cool down after driving. Mine is tuned by Howard at RLZ and he flat out says as long as I do my upkeep on it I can drive it every day with the tune that is on it. If you use quality parts and get a good tuner your good to go.

6psi, chipped ECU, 440cc injectors, I'd say you actually found a car that isn't going to grenade itself because the owner was an idiot.
If you want to be safe about it, buy the car and have it retuned just to make sure it's perfect, other than assuming everything else checks out on the car go for it.
