would it be necessary to replace my stock crankshaft (d16y8) for FI? I plan on putting eagle rods onto them, etc. etc.

its in good condition. i suppose i could get it cleaned and micropolished, but i just wanted to see what people thought.

stock is great, just make sure it's in good shape before you perform any work to it.

get it balanced, micropolished as well.

you could go all out and buy the light Eagle crank.
or u could knife-edge your existing one.........but these two are not really necessary.

if u need the eagle crank contact Rocket in my sig.

The Eagle crank is not available yet. I do not think they plan on making one for the D series motor anyways. Before you rebuild a D series motor I would suggest you at least consider swapping in a B series motor.

rebuilding the whole thing to be bulletproof against high boost.

i've already set my sights on building the d16. i like a good challenge.

how would i be able to check the crank to see if its "up to par" for this application?
thanks for your suggestions

Good luck man, i too am up for challenges. Get a Helm's manual...it explains all the different measurements to take to ensure the crank is in good physical shape. Of course look it over for cracks.
