Recommended boost controller?
Hey everyone, I'm slowly modding my GN and am now in the market for a decent(under $900) Boost controller, can anyone suggest a few?
Thanks for your help in advance!

the apexi one is a fine model. its really sophisticated, and i heard all good stories about that (only 2
). but you cant go wrong w/ the profec B, and at ~$300, you cant beat it

IMO....1. Blitz sbc-id 2. Greddy Profec B 3. Apexi Avcr II
The only reason why I put Apexi third is because it doesn't read in psi..Its a metric only unit and also have heard its not very user friendly..Blitz on the other hand will read in anything..There was a review on boost controllers..cant remember which magazine..head over to grocery store and check the usual magazines..you'll see the heading for the review on boost controllers...it's the magazine that has a Blueish color with a WRX on the cover i think. I want to say..........ok, got it
july issue of sport compact car... http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com ...look at the bottom left part of site..you'll see picture of the cover i'm talking about

I have used Apexi, but was not able to get stable boost. I relaly tried all kind of ****. Drove 2 gas tanks empty only for setting it up, right. I bought me the Greddy Proofec B and it is awesome, but I miss the gear dependend boost setting. Now I use Greddy for stable boost and Apexi for gear dependend in 1st and 2nd gear. Aes, I have 2 boost controllers hooked up in line
I have an Apexi AVC-R and I don't believe it's even compatable with a Grand National. My tuner, Lawrence Connley, all he deals with are Grand Nationals and I believe all he uses is manuel boost controllers.
I wanted to use an manual one, but we tried 3 different kinds and all of them was crap.
So I purchased me the Greddy provec B. You will be very happy with that one.

I heard the profec B was the best to buy, I'll probably be investing in that or HKS Vi model(I believe thats the name). I'm slowing modding the car and its almost time to crank the boost(MWAHAHAHAH!)
You can ask anyone about the HKS evc1. The first gen. one. It is the best with no fuzzy logic type stuff. Just gets the job done and does not have problems with altitude like other controlers do. Its kinda hard to find someone who has one and wants to sell it cheap. I use this in my race car and have never once had any problems with boost.....Mike
even if it did replace it, who in their right mind would hook up laptop every time u sat in the car.........unless it can be made to work with a PDA........hmmmmmmmm
Go with the Blitz SBC-iD if you have turbos running properly. If your turbos are completely stock, then I would suggest going with the Profec B. The Profec A and SBC-EZ were discontinued recently.
I have a Turbo XS manual boost controller and it works fine. I'm able to hold the boost without any problems. Never any boost spikes. I picked it up for under $90 so why spend the money.
