is there a point to recirculation bovs other than to quiet them down?

Its necessary for cars with a mass airflow sensor such as dsm's or subbies I believe. But us honda guys have MAP so we do not need to recirculate.

MAS reads the amount of air that comes into the intake by the filter. Therefore the ecu is taking that air into account when determining the A/F ratio. If the air is blown out the the atmosphere the A/F raito gets messed up. So when you recirculate back into the intake the air is still being accounted for.

MAP reads the pressure inside of the intake manifold to determine the A/F ratio. Therefore the BOV "blows off" before the air is even read by the MAP sensor, so the A/F ratio is not affected.

That is my basic understanding of how this works. If anyone has anything else to add, or can correct me on anything please do!

Thats a fairly decient explaination of it.
the MAF has accounted for the air, so if you dump it, there's not enough air and the car blips rich for a split second.
MAP it doesn't matter.
I have a stock 911 Turbo one thats made for recirc, but no plans to recirc it unless the noise just gets annoying.
There's no benefit really on a MAP car other than noise reduction and I suppose that little puff of pressurized air gives a little spooling kick, but I can't see it being much.

the reasoning behind it is noise reduction in my case atleast.

If you are looking for noise reduction i have seen a bov online somewhere that is said it be "silent." Im not sure how well it work, but if thats what you are looking for I would hit up a search .
