Default ready to start planning turbo..

Well, with winter around the corner, it's time to pull the jeep out and park the civic in it's spot.. what a great time to work on/prepare for turbo..

my setup:

90 civic DX sedan
91 si D16A6 engine i/h/e..

been reading here and there about intercoolers, oil routing, you know.. the basics..

where's a good solid place to get good information about everything involved ?

1) i'm planning on doing internals first
2) when i do the turbo, i'ld like to get at 'least' 15-18 psi out of it..

i've read a little about this and a little about that, but is there some kind of 'D16 turbo for dummies' that'll give me the big picture ?

i'm quite used to raping the search button, i just need a good starting place.. heh..

thanks,

chris

I think you'll probobly be able to find all the info you need on...

- Honda-Tech.com duh!
- Home Made Turbo.com
- Turbo D16.com
- Uberdata forum (assuming you are going to use it )

You should be able to find all the information you need in those sites, but I don't think there is one specific place to go to find all the information... but that would take the fun out of it!

Oh, if you are going to do internals, look into the Vitara pistons... (maybe you already have)... they are cheap and strong

ok well im going to go out onto a limb here
would the turbo mazda 323 pistons work? Low compression 7.9-1= more boost
really strong people have run 19 psi on them
1597 cc same as the d16?

Unless they have the same bore and piston compression height, which I am betting they don't, then they will not work.

You need to know the stroke and rod length of the motor to determine the compression height. Head height, whatever that is measuring, is irrelevant. I wouldn't bore stock 75MM d-series sleeves out by 3mm to 78MM anyways, so that rules them out.
