so i got civic automatic dual core radiator with stock fan because i'm going with a top mount turbo setup.
i did a test fit of my turbo along with the downpipe a few weeks ago. and i found out that the downpipe wouldn't fit with the stock fan. so the next few days i ordered a slim fan from b18bturbo (which got shipped to me quick
). the only problem now is that whenever i'm on the freeway, the car starts to over heat. the needle goes past the half mark up to 3/4's. so i'm kinda worried since i'm not even boosting yet.
the fan is about half an inch from the core. it didn't exactly mount right, so i ghetto'd it. hahaha zip tie heaven
my BOV was blocking the mount location for my over fill bottle too, so i ghetto'd that. here are some pics.

so i'm wondering if i should replace the fan with another one or if i should just order a new aluminum radiator? i'm just kinda new to aluminum ones, so i don't know how the fan mounts on to those and i have no idea how to make the fan a pusher instead of a puller. any advice or pictures will help me a lot. thanks guys.

the problem you are having is misinstall
you need to mount the fan flush to your radiator and make srue you have the blade direction correct for which method you are using push or pull. also polarity

yea, i was going to say make sure the fan is flush.... tried to put the fan in the front as a pusher instead of a puller, i saw that it worked for me... who knows... worth a try no ??
i have a huge upgraded greddy FMIC that blocks all air into the engine bay from the front bumper.....

hmm...i'm gonna have to figure out how to make it flush.
i have no idea how to mount it to make it a pusher. lol otherwise i'd try that too. it would definitely give me more clearance for downpipe.

Most fans come with mounting equiptment. They look like zip ties almost and you stick them through the fins in the radiator. You may be able to get a mounting kit at your local auto parts store.

ooohhh...ok. i just talked to another guy and he told me the same thing.
i had no idea that i was suppose to use that. i have them so i'll have to try that. thanks! i might wanna get some extra of those zips since i wanna upgrade my radiator later. i'll have to check the auto part store.
NOW which way do the blades so that it's a pusher? or do i just reverse the wiring?

i got a 12inch
the fan blades are directed the same as the stock oem one. so it's pulling right now. do i need to swap the blade around to be a pusher?

I'm helping littogpimp with the install.
so to make it a pusher, we take off the nut of the fan, put on the fan direction the opposite way to turn it into a pusher? do we keep the wiring the same also? TIA.

we'll try that today. thanks!

So......if I understand correctly, the "polarity" of the wires AND the fan blade have to be adjusted?
I just mounted mine as a pusher (it was a puller). All I did was flip the wires to make the fan blow into the engine bay. If the air is blowing into the bay, would I have still had to flip the fan blades? Am I getting less cooling effect or something? <confused>

yes the blade direction does make a differen rather than just switching polarity. the fans come out of the box from the manufactuer as puller sometimes however they are setup as pushbut most of the tiems puller.
blue wire is poistive and black is negative.

mine came as a puller. blades positioned like stock.
rufus, do you feel the fan pulling air from the front?
i read that a puller is a little more efficent at cooling than a pusher. but in my case, i might need it as a pusher because of my downpipe coming down where the fan is.

Mine is setup in front of the radiator as a pusher, and yes, when my fan comes on it blows air into the engine bay. I switched it for space when I installed a bigger radiator.
The only reason I asked my question was because I couldn't tell the difference between one side of the blades to the other. They look the same, just depends on which way the fan is spinning (based on how it's wired).
I modified (broke) my stock plug so that I can plug it in either way. My fan is functioning the way it is supposed to, but all I ever did was flip the plug / wires. I never flipped the fan blades over, and apparently I was supposed to because they are more efficient when correctly assembled (which is dependent on application: pusher or puller).
Thanks extremepowerouters.com for the radiator and b18bturbo for the fan, great sellers. Best,

If you fan blade is the wrong way you fan should be loud as hell, like really loud. loud enough you can hear it in the car.
Once you switch it, it will be much quieter and work better. I found this out the hard way!!
