Yes. Think about it, when the throttle plate is closed there is vacuum in the intake manifold. Vacuum

it would seem that there are a lot of people sucking in unfiltered air at idle and part throttle then.

I never thought about that... of course I don't have my turbo on yet.. Damn blown motors make that hard 
Why is it the day before I get something cool done, somethin bad happens? The day after I order my CF hood... the wife wrecks the car and almost totals it.. the day before I get my full custom turbo put on, the motor blows.. I have such bad luck..
