The overall piping change is going to be different from every kit. On my old setup the turbo faced the passenger side, and I had a side to side IC.

That is where my overall change came from. DAs will benefit from this most because then there is no dealing with the factory radius rods, or traction bars if you have them.

When you compare the frictional losses from the 3 90* bends you would use in a non backdoor intercooler, to the loses on the 90 degree that the air makes as it goes into the intercooler core of a backdoor intercooler, I think you will find less loss with the sinlge 90 degree bend. This is due to the low velocity of the air as it enters the large endtank of the intercooler. Also, you have less tubing with the backdoor intercooler. and one less chrage pipe to blow off

If you want to back your statements up, take the car for a ride, before and after shortened piping. Evo guys take about 4-5 inches out and gain 7-10 whp and a slight spool increase. On a small turbo drift SR20 we just did, we got rid of 2 1/2 feet of ic piping, and it made a night and day difference in response. like a "holy **** it feels like the boost went way up" difference</TD></TR></TABLE>

When i modified my setup to decrease my IC pipe length in half i noticed a much better throttle response.

My IC piping is shorter then the FR guys, and only has 45/30 degree bends(absolutely no 90 or 180). It took alot of work to accomplish this however. Re-weld and move radiator, No AC, Sidewinder V1 Manifold and a special Intercooler.
