Default Question about EGT's

I'm running about 1450F after a hard pull through 3rd gear, is that too high? Keep in mind i'm at 10.6:1 so I'm just askin. Around town its about 1100F @55MPH in 5th gear. Lower gears its about 800F. This is my first turbo car so I'm a little new. Anyway, its pulling well and so far everything seems ok. Boost is about 5.5 psi, EGT probe is in the #3 runner of the turbo manifold. I don't hear any detonation so far... TIA, EV.

That's like 100 degrees higher than my friend told me to run mine. He tuned my setup and he's pretty knowledgeable...for the most part.

However, do a search. There are pretty big differences among what people have gone up to....some say 1500, some say 1250 max. I dunno what to make of it, and I still don't. Hmph.

Wow....the 3rd runner is supposed to be the hottest. 1500 on your #1?? Woah. What does your gauge go up to? Mine only goes up to 1600. You would think that the high end of a gauge is where you want to stay away from.....I guess not with EGT's.

EGT's are so confusing. I guess a sure way is to also have an A/F.

I have a Greddy EGT gauge........it goes up to 1200C............the red line/warning line starts at 900C which would be 1908F!!!!
700C is 1484F and that is where I usually am while on the highway.
Is the #3 runner the hottest???.........I always heard #1 or #3.
I heard someone say the #1 is the furthest from the fuel supply and it would get the least amount of fuel, but wouldn't the electronic controlled fuel injection eliminate that? Anyway, I think I am OK, my a/f gauge shows a good ratio and I have not had any detonation.
