Question about cams

Can you put an inlet cam on the exhaust side?

no.
intake cam has slot for distributor.

um no, why would you even consider that.

they would open the valves at the same time.

eh you can do it on motorcycles, like the hayabusa, popluar swap is to replace the exhaust cam with an intake cam with some adjustable gears
