Default question about 02 sensor and VAFC tuning

Ok, so i fried my 02 sensor, and now im running open loop, so my ECU is pretty much all shades of confused as to what is going on, it thinks its running lean, so it dumps all sorts of fuel into my engine. im drowning out on the top end of all my gears right around 7700 RPMS, i think my cylinders are getting drowned in fuel and cant ger rid of it (Vortech FMU 8:1, 310 RCs, Airtex pump)

so back to my original point, my VAFC goes in this weekend, but im concerned and fearing that the vafc is tuned off of the primary 02 readings, so if my 02 is shot, my VAFC wont be able to be tuned. any thoughts on this? can someone clear this up for me?

vafcs use the map and throttle position sensors for their imput, then modify the signal the ecu sees from them. Shouldnt have anything to do with your 02.

yes that's correct...but you shouldn't try to tune with the VAFC without a wideband.

I didn't say tune without an O2...I said he should tune with a wideband O2 sensor.

yea its fried, the way i see it:

its just running open loop now, so it reads lean most of the time, so the engine just dumps **** loads of fuel in, so in actuality im running super rich all long and getting HORRIBLE gas mileage at that.

im not concerned, ill fix it in a week or so.

The amount of fuel that would take, your motor wouldn't even run.

Thats kind of funny how you guys mention washing out rings. It is very easy to do plain and simple. If you car is running super rich and you think you are safe then you are wrong. Running super rich can wash out rings and cause major oil burning and compression related problems. Running too lean everybody knows about because the car will go BOOM. lol

Get a new O2 sensor and don't run the car until you do
