Default Put in GSR cams....now have problem?

Yes its boost related- My car is/was/willbe boosted and thus the reason for GSR cams-

Anyway- I put in my cams, Used assembly lube, etc. Follow all procedures, set valves to .16 on intake and .18 on exhaust. Reset Ignition timing (and crank timing since i had the belt off), torqued everything in sequence and started it up- SOUNDS LIKE A ******* DIESAL Any suggestions? Where did i goof on this one?

Oh and on another note, I am throwing a code 9, I was throwing this code before cam install but ever since my swap(usdmb16a2 from obd1 eg to 98 ek auto). I have check TDC about a dozens times now, i have check the CYP Sensor and its good, could it be in my wiring harness? I am using the right dizzy i think (its from a 00' Si) Thanks again

.16 and .18 Where did you get these numbers, I think you are WAY off.

EDIT: I think it is .006 and .008 if you did the numbers you posted you are so far off, hope your valves are all right.

I dont know anything about the valve clearances but I might be able to help you on the dizzy problem. My swap consisted of an OBD1 b16a2 from a jdm eg and I swapped it into a 97 civic hatch manual. Instead of buying a whole new distributor like you did i just took the two plugs off of the wiring harness that came with the motor and soldered them into the harness on the car. It worked like a charm with no CELs.

.16/.18mm or .16/.18 inches? There is a big difference in the two.

its .8 exuast and .7 intake. make sure that the car has plenty of time to cool down.

Used .016/.018 in. don't know how it happened. Hope its OK when i correct them

The valve clearance specs (for any DOHC VTEC engine) are as follows:
• IN - 0.15~0.19mm
• EX - 0.17~0.21mm

This is the info i had from the FAQ post-

On the dizzy issue..kinda confusing-
The motor and dizzy are from a 00'Si (usdm) I had this in an EG hatch and am now putting it in an EK hatch. When i put it in my hatch (eg) i had the chart to figure out how to swap the plug on the dizzy over to obd1, now i am swapping back to obdII, but its the obdIIa instead of the 00' obdIIb. (Can't find that reference chart again to see if theres a diff.) When i did this the first time on my EG i got the same damn code, i just can't remember what wires it was that had to be switched? Make sense to anyone?

Your valves may not be fucked up. Try settings the valve lash to the correct setting of .006" intake and .008" exhaust and start it. Where did you pull those super large clearance values from?

I got it out of this post for DOHC CAM Install It had it as .16mm on intake and.18mm on exhaust. Not sure how i ended up getting .016in (in a hurry i guess?)

So much mis-information in this thread, for a technical board people really need to check before posting if you're not 100% sure.

Ex. Whoever said .7 and .8 that is about 100 times bigger than the valve lash is supposed to be.
