Professional Engine Builders: Help
Recently I had my B18C5 re-sleeved with a Darton mid kit. The sleeves are 84mm and was installed by a reputable local machine shop. Here is the problem:
We started it up and water is mixing with the oil. We're going to take the head off tomorrow and scope things out. I have a feeling it's the sleeves
The machine shop will probably offer to fix it, but from what I understand and speaking with other people who have had a similar problem, the damage is done and really can't be fixed. Input and comments are welcome!

ditto. Then talk to the machine shop about it and figure what to do from there "IF" it is the sleeves. Talking to another shop will not get your problems fixed without a price tag.

What I'm asking is IF it is the sleeve, is a repair do-able and as reliable as a fresh install? I've spoken with a couple guys who have had a similar problems and they say after it's been "fixed" the same problem just re-occured again.

A few years ago we had a local machine shop sleeve our blocks. They dropped a set of sleeves on an engine then guaranteed to fix it for us and have it work with no problems. The 2nd block they did also dropped 2 sleeves.
If they can't do it right the first time I would not let them touch it again. The tolerances on sleeving the MID's are very tight and only experienced shops should do these installs. You can have the block inspected by Darton but I wouldn't guarantee that they will want to go back over someone else's sloppy work.
