profec B
is it a spec 2 or older regular profec b?
whats your wastegate springs pressure? I had one with a 10 psi spring, and could not go below 10 psi.
it may not be able to provide enough pressure to the wastegate to hold the boost you want...just a guess though

You sure its hooked up correctly. Turning the gain up will raise the boost but thats not the only setting that effects the amount of boost. There are 3 settings for boost. You have start boost, gain, and set gain. Start boost is set by turning the **** to right at the main screen. Set this to a low number like 20. Turn the gain and set gain to the lowest setting. Turn the last boost function on, so it displays your highest boost level during the last pull. It helps to have someone else in the car with you to watch the boost gauge and the boost controller screen. See where boost holds at this setting. Then put the set gain 5 pounds less than you desired boost level. Set gain to like 15 and see where your boost is at. If it falls off up top turn the gain up in like 2% increments until it holds where you need it. Hope this helps. If you still have problems, you may have other problems not related to the controller. What type of wastegate and what size spring you running? What type of manifold?
yeah i had a really hard time trying to figure it out and still having some trouble with it, anyone on here running 18-20 psi on here with one?? can you give me your settings so i can set mine to the same lol
thats not how it works. all setups are different. It takes a while to get it right...
Personally i spent about 3 days just doing WOT pulls up and down the highway to get mine dialed in lol.
But i was dialing it in for a given psi [low:14psi / hi:18psi] and also late gate opening for quickest spool
and i experimented with some diff settings to so i could see how it effected spool and consistency at full boost.
just gotta put in the time, its not plug and go type item.

the greddy instructions are really good and help to explain the different functions and how to use them. best bet is to review them and then try again. if everything is set up right than you should have no problem. page 17-18 explain set, gain, and set gain. and external wastegate setup is on page 11. can you give me your settings so i can go from there
? i am having alot of trouble going from scratch, my tuner didnt even know how to work it, right now im running a mbc

i know the feelin... cant give u my setting but i can help ya a lil:
1. Make 10000000% sure you have all the lines connected to the valve/unit/wastegate correctly.
2. start with these settings: gain: 5%, set: 0%, startboost: 0psi; also set the controller to record peak boost [see manual], also put it into PSI mode
3. now do a pull and watch the controller, when u let off the pedal the peak boost will flash, this is the base, or basically the boost u make with no controller-assistance.
4. This step will vary based on your spring, basically turn up the SET in 5% intervals and do pulls, watch the max boost. Once you start getting in the realm of the boost psi you want to be in, move to step 5
5. If you reach your desired boost and it starts falling off you need to decrease your gain, if it starts creeping up you need to increase your gain. Once you have your desired boost holding steady all the way to redline, move to the next step. For me 15% ish was perfect, anything more and you could feel the car bogging as the gate flapped open and closed...
6. Now lets play with the START BOOST. This is the fun part, you can use this to decrease spooltime. Set the start boost about 4-5psi lower than your desired psi. Now do some more pulls, you may notice your max boost you see has increased, if this is the case, turn the SET down a tad. do more pulls.
This is the basic process, it truly is a trial-and-error process which kinda sucks, key to remember is:
a: do pulls through as much of the powerband as possible, i try goin from 3k to 8500
b: be conservative, you dont want a spike and a boom boom, just take your time, make small changes between pulls, nothing drastic..
anyway hope this helps somewhat.. i would just give you some settings to try but then you wouldnt learn, you MIGHT blow up your car, and you would never get it dialed in just right for your application

lol yeah, the only bad thing about me trying to dial it in is as it is now it bounces rev limiter in 3rd spinning at 15 psi, theres really no where around here i can do 4th and 5th gear pulls without attracting alot of unwanted attention, if you watch my vid in the video thread you will see what i mean lol

yeah thats a bitch heh, i do 3rd and 4th gear pulls... i have an LSD in my tranny tho so that goes along way in putting the power on the ground. I actually have very few traction issues at 300whp on street tires with the lsd

yeah it is lol, it tq steers all over the road so its hard to watch the boost gauge to see if it spikes above 20 (still have stock sleeves) so im kind of scared about trying to dial it in, might see if i can do it on the dyno sometime, yeah i still have a stock open diff gsr trans with over 400whp but it still leaves 2 solid black marks in 3rd lol

LOL that says it all right there heh, open diff FTL!
Dont worry about it spiking over 20, it wont. Whats your spring pressure in the gate?
I think every 5% or so was about 2psi ish for me on the 'SET BOOST' setting... so 10% = springs pressure + 4psi. Remeber these are just ballparks to help you dial it in safely... 5% does not literally equate to 2psi every time on every setup..
My point is dont worry about it spiking over, just be conservative. If your spring pressure is 6psi and you want 18psi i would start with a set of 10% and see how much boost it makes [ill guess it makes 8-10psi] so from there add another 5%, do a pull youll prolly be around 12psi or so, do another pull, add 5%, etc..
The risk of spiking is very rare, my spec2 NEVER spiked ever. Just keep the gain down around 5% and youll be gravy. Once you start getting into higher gain %'s then you risk spiking cause the gate is so flappy as opposed to closed...reach desired psi [actually a bit b4 desired psi]..open.
Oh and i was runnin 300whp with stock sleeve last year when i was dialing mine in on the street, so i know how u feel. It isnt as dangerous as u think if you just work in small increments.

my spring pressure is suppose to be 8 psi (as it was with my stock gsr) but now with the built ls vtec it ranges from 10-12 psi
last time i messed with the ebc it spiked over 25 psi
im have a very short temper so i get very mad easily and that did it lol, it either boosted to much or didnt boost past 10

hmm u sure everything is hooked up right?
what kinda manifold and gate are you running? Are you sure your adjusting the SET BOOST and not the GAIN?
try this setting:
SET BOOST: 5% | GAIN: 5% | START BOOST: 0psi
if that doesnt get u over 10psi try a SET BOOST of 10%
what kinda boost pressure does that give ya? If you arent getting above the spring pressure with those setting something is DEFINITELY hooked up incorrectly....

im running a peakboost mani with tial 38mm gate, i may have got the 2 settings backwards when playing with it, last time i messed with it was about 2 weeks ago, i will try those settings and see how it goes, im 99% sure everything is hooked up correctly

well just went out and no have luck at all, it either boosts to 20+ and i let off or just holds 8 psi and goes up to 10 at 8k, tryed the settings you gave me to start with and nothing, it wont even let me get into the start boost adjustments
ok 99% sure the vacuum lines are hooked up incorrectly now, i should have installed it myself, how is your vacuum lines run? right now mine is run from the side port of the wastegate to the valve unit, then from the valve unit to a vaccum line on the back of the mani

that should be good to go.
also a quick correction to step 5. if boost is falling off you increase the gain, if boost is spiking you decrease the gain. you had them switched. hope you guys get your ebc dialed in. what ever happened to the OP anyways?
EDIT: i think i need to add a little more detail. the greddy manual says that start boost being too high will cause spiking. it also says that spiking can occur from the gain not being adjusted properly, which leads me to believe it can be cause by the gain being too high or low, thats confusing...
its also says that boost creep and falling off can be from the gain being too low. and if the gain is too high boost will go up and down (from the wg flapping i assume) seems like there are alot of factors.
so far ive gotten a consistant 10psi using SET 20, GAIN 15, and START BOOST 60 off a 7psi spring, if that helps anyone.
