Problems with JRSC installed on my Type R
Well we finally finished the install after 2 days of working on it....
I have a few problems...
1- the main blower pully only clears the master brake booster by 1/4 inch so if I downshift or go in reverse (it pushes the back of the motor up) and the pulley rubs against the brake booster... ***look at the pics for details***
2- If I plug the bypass valve vacum line to the throttle bodyI cannot get any boost whatsoever.. So then we pluged it into the fuel pressure regulator vacum line with a T... then I got spiking to 4.5psi but drops to 2-3 psi at arround 6k ........
3- I cannot get any boost over 4.5psi.........
please someone help me out.. and please dont say take it off, I had a turbo B18 civic last year and wanted something different with more reliability...
AND PLEASE DONT LAUGH AT THE FILTER ITS ONLY TEMPORY.." I HAD A AEM"
and my DC 4-1 header and full exhaust is going on tomo.......

thanks
Tyler

you should check all of the motor mounts and see it there still in good shape.
btw off topic: you really need to clean the engine bay. it just doesnt do the R any justice...

well if you want to handle it yourself you do have a few options. not any great ones but here you go.
1.motor mount inserts.
2.smaller blower pulley.
3. thicker gasket between blower and mani.
1. and 2. would be what I would do, you get a more solid motor and higher boost. I am not seeing a bad thing here.

yes I know the engine bay is nasty, but the dumb guy I bought the car from put like 10 coats of rustproofing that does not come off very easy... but yes ill spend 10 hours and clean it soon, I promiss
but thats still does not fix the problem!!!
where can I get a smaller pulley?
thanks

I have the 3.8 inch blower pulley, but even with teh 4.2 I never had problems. I eventually put in the ES mount inserts and that stiffened it up a lot. I'd be willing to bet you have a bad mount. The pics you posted look similar to mine, but mine is clean.
The smaller pulley will give you more clearance.
As for the vacume line from the bypass valve, When it has vacume on it , it should open the vavle, there is a spring to close for boost. Make sure it springs closed fully or you will loose boost that way.Make sure you hook it back up to the hosebarb on the inlet tube , they can crack if you run boost into them.

Friend of mine had a JR charger on his prelude. It hit rubbed and threw check engine codes always. He finally took it off.
That's doesn't really help , does it ?

if you want reliability you should have left it alone.besides, most people never make much more than 200whp with jrsc & typeR
my thread may help you as far as clearances are concerned. i used a spacer between the blower and the mani which in turn pushed the blower a tad lower, just enough to give clearance for the master cylinder. here are the details: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=510810
so basically it looks like im gonna have to take off the blower to fix this problem???
I might just try to grind the master cylinder
...
im off to the garage in an hour, ill let you guys know how it goes!

not to turn this into a debate, however there are more happy JRSC people out there than there are un happy people. and just because the dealership installed an aftermarket product, doesnt mean they know what they're doing.

Just sharing my experiences with JRSC's. I didn't mean to sound like a flame on anyone.
