Default pro1's Help

Ive got a set of pro'1 and pro series cam gear. I was wondering if there's a quick setting. I can set the cam gears to. so i can get the car to just idle to check over everything before getting it tuned or should i just wait till the car gets tune. I know they are suppose to be degree'd in. any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

if you have the new versions, they drop right in without any adjustments.

i'll have to pm him i been searching for a while.
Found this on skunk2's website.

We recommend you degree your camshaft for optimal results as they are not meant to be set to zero like factory camshafts. There is another option called "quick settings" in which you can set the cam gears to get close to the correct setting as if they were degreed in. We mean close because it is not spot on like degreeing the cam so we can no take responsibility for what may occur as there are too many variables to consider like a milled block, new pistons, clearance (valve to valve, piston to valve), etc. For quick settings it is important (life or death of the motor) to know which cam gears you have as the settings are different on the pro series and tuner series cam gears. For the Tuner (silver, red, or blue finish) series, Pro 1 quick settings are +1.5 intake and +2 exhaust. The quick settings for the Pro-series cam gears (titanium finish) are double meaning +3 intake and +4 exhaust. You can refer to pg 17 for these settings in our new catalog (available pdf online) and pg 21 on how to degree in a cam. We hope this helps.

mine idled ok with them straight up... but my block has been shaved some so the timing mark is off. Try advancing them some and see if it helps out a bit

mine idled at zero, but they are not designed to be RUN without degreeing them. but, i didnt just drop them in, and hope they idled on their own. it needed tuning, raising the idle, increasing the IAC duty cycle... they did not just start right up. a local LS1 tuner was hanging around the shop the day i started it, and he was telling me that on some big cam v8 cars, they even drill i tiny hole in the throttle blade to get them to idle...

you have to understand, every motor is gonna be different. things that can effect the degree settings could be, milled head, sleeved block, head gasket thickness, even things so small as timing belt tension an valve lash CAN effect your final degree settings.
