Default ... precision turbos

... i was wondering what the differences were between the pt series turbos and the sc series turbos... anyone know?... (see below)

pt series :
http://www.precisionte.com/cgi-local...uct=buickturbo

sc series :
http://www.precisionte.com/cgi-local...duct=fordturbo

... also, what turbo would people recommend... i have been told pt54, pt60, and sc44... (stock gsr for now, plan to be built this winter)... anyone care to share some info / experiences?... also, those with the pt60, will it bolt up to a t3 flange?

thanks in advance...!!!

No, the SC turbos have the same turbine discharge flange as a regular 5 bolt T3. The PT have a different flange. All this time I thought I had a PT60, when in fact I have a SC44. Here is a run down of the SC turbos they carry. You can get the turbine housing in a .48 or .63 a/r.

SC50-425hp
SC32-480hp
SC34-545hp
SC44-565hp
SC60-580hp
SC51-585hp
SC52-600hp
SC53-610hp
SC54-620hp

All SC turbos retail for $775. If you need anymore info please feel to contact me. Picking what turbo you have depends on how much power you want to make.

so is it safe to say that the only difference between the pt-series and the sc-series is the flange?... also, what turbo would you recommend for a stock gsr?... built gsr?... thanks in advance...

Yes, the only difference would be the flange. The PT's have a strange 5bolt flange that looks like the ford T3 but its not. I have a stock motor Gsr and I plan on building it. My Hp goal is only 400whp, and with the SC44 will go beyond that. You also need to remember Precision underrates their turbos.

No, because the the SC44 flows more than the PT60.

Edit: I have a SC44

Well now knowing all of this, I have no clue on a turbo for my setup.

Art what do you suggest I am aiming for 400whp at a min but not too laggy.

The engine will be a fully built 2.0 sleeved you know the basic build that everyone is doing now.

Its kinda hard to believe these small turbos make so much power. But eveything Precision has made has made power. All the top Ford mustang and Grand National use them and they make crazy power. With the SC44 it will give me 400whp and more room to grow like downpipe stated.

But they sure are a work of art.

i ordered a pt54 and wound up with an sc32. but viren is taking care of it so its no big deal. i think there was just some confusion over how precision labels their turbos. i spoke to harry at precision and he said that the sc32 will easily support 400hp. i went bigger because i decided i want to leave some room to grow. if your target it 400hp the sc32 shoudl do you fine, and spool quicker as well. good luck with it and let us know how it turns out.

Where's the best place to buy a precision turbo? I found them on the net for $650, but I didn't save the link, and I can't find it anymore.

Im a little surprised at the HP ratings of some of the smaller turbos. Why is everyone using a SC61 or SC63 to make 500+ hp when just about everything SC34 and bigger is rated to 500+ hp?

i need similar suggestions for a 'simple' build.

goal: as close to 300whp as safely possible (250 would make be just fine) with a semi stock block.
build: b18am block/b18b head. pistons?, rods?, and block guard.
turbo: this is what i need suggestions on. i want as little lag as possible.

with 10:1 comp and an sc50 when should i expect full boost?
