Which Precision Turbo for my setup?
I've been doing a lot of research and I’m actually confused on which Precision turbo will be best for my setup.
Setup: (b18c1)
Full Race Front Mount Intercooler
Full Race 3" Down Pipe
40 mm Tial Wastegate
Lovefab Tubular Manifold
Hondata s200
Stock block (for at least a year)
I was leading towards the s50 .63 for my current setup at about 8psi on a stock block. But I’ve had a few people tell me just to get the SC61 instead of upgrading to it later on since they are the same price. How well would the Sc61 hold up on my stock block? Which turbo would you recommend and remember the block will be stock for atleast a year due to money.

the sc50 has a weird compressor map. its not as efficinet as the sc61. go with the sc61 with the .60 front and a .48 rear or .63 rear. it will make plenty of power at 4-6 psi on stock block and youll have room to turn it up later and make more power. thats my advice.
Is it even worth running the sc61 at 4-6 psi. I mean what kind of power would that put out compared to like a t3/t04e at like 8-9psi.

I put down 228 whp on my sc61 at about 4.5psi. This was untuned and probably running in the 10:1 afr area.

Damn, that kinda makes me want to sell off my t3/t3e and go with the SC61

Those are some nice numbers. What does everyone else recommend for me to do? 6psi on a stock b18c1 tuned on hondata should be around the 260-270whp mark then, i'm guessing?

SC61, Get the right turbo the first time. I purchased the SC60 for my stock motor and boosted 12psi made 315hp. Built the motor and now making 435 @ 19 psi. Really wanted to break the 450 mark below 20psi. Now looking to get the SC61
Does the SC61 provide useable power for a 1.8L drag car? Or is it more of a dyno queen turbo? I have a built 1.8 and am looking for something that will provide gobs of useable 1/4 mile power.
Or would it be more like a bog off the line, then rip the tires apart. Obviously it provides a lot of Hp, but can you use it?

So are you saying that the SC60 is starting to run out of breath or are you just not happy that you didn't bust 450whp under 20psi??

By no means is the SC60 running out of breath! The turbo is very strong. I kinda wanted the numbers. My car pulls like crazy. Didn't really want to go past 20psi Not dead set on a new turbo (SC61) just doing the research!

you would need to get it built for drag then. i would recommend the .70 front with the .58 rear for drag. that way there is not much lag with the .58 but the front housing will flow what you need. you could go .60 front also. thats your choice.

thats what i would like to know too. I plan on running...possibly the full race kit on my stock B18c1 for about 1 year as well until I can get it sleeved. I wanted to know that the powerband would look like.
also when will the turbo start and reach full spool on a stock B18c1?

Actually its not the SC50 that has the strange compressor map, its the SC32 that I call "weird". The SC50 is a really effcient compressor, but not as good as the SC61. I say that for what you want to do get the SC61.

Everyone is saying the sc61. I'm pretty convinced on getting it now. Now the question what would be the best a/r size on my turbo?
Motormatrix recommended:
"60 front and a .48 rear or .63 rear"

the rear housing choice is yours. if you run your car hard on the street the .48 will burn tires endlessly. but it will have good spool for the track. the .63 will have more lag but not as much wheelspin. i run a .63 on my car and it works good.
